Why do our hearts skip beats?

When we get anxious or scared, sometimes our hearts skip beats. What causes that phenomenon?

There are a few causes.  Remember your heart is a muscle.  You have probably had muscle twitches before, well the heart can twitch also.  Whatever the cause it can be scary and it can be a sign.  If you have this occur daily I would suggest seeing a doctor.
