Anyone noticed this?

Like if a fat person is the main character in the film, they never make it serious at some point they make a joke out of her size every chance they get.

Or the fat person is always the stupid one who is friend with the thinner one, the fat one seems always happy and yet make the thin one look good.

On tv ads the fat one gets roles such as the loud, and no non sense type, or the cleaning lady like pine sol. Its even worse a real live fat women calls herself the Queen of clean...you can buy her books and see.

Fat ones seem never to have a love interest. I did see so once, but she found her match someone who eats more then her in one sitting.

Why does the media do this?

Don't they know it brainwashes men to mostly want thinner women?

Yes bigger women get men ..........but um....not really the ones anyone would want...rare a good one.....ok nevermind. But why?

  1. Queen Latifah gets great roles.. like her role in Chicago.

How about the lead in Hairspray?

  2. It's funny that everything you wrote points out how men are brainwashed to not be attracted to fat women, who are undesirable to the average man, because these women wind up with undesirable men, whom by your standards includes fat men of all people. Perhaps you're brainwashed.

The media reinforces what's already happening in general society. Men didn't wake up one day to see a skinny women with love interests on TV or thin women in magazines and decided this is what we're now attracted to.

There are lots of men who interested in overweight women, but I suppose they do not meet your standards. But you cannot deny that more times than not, the extra pounds represent greater issues in an overweight person.

  3. Not all, Hurly from 'Lost' is a serious character.

  4. The same reason the short guy on tv/film, is always the idiot or the butt of jokes, and never gets the girl. And why usually asian men in films are only given hardcore martial artist roles and rarely seen as anything else heroic. Or why black men are usually a hardcore rapper or football star, or a thug but rarely an intelligent guy who knows what he's doing.. And why black girls are almost always the loud overbearing character with an attitute. Just another form of discrimination.

These stereotypes do exist, but it's discrimination when thats all thats usually ever on tv/film. There are more to people that is interesting enough to base a story on that sells than what is usually displayed on screen.

EDIT: About Queen Latifah. Out of the sea people who have to play the stereotypical roles I mention above, you'll always be able to find at least a tiny handful  who are the exception, but it doesn't change large majority of what happens.

  5. because tv is all about false reality

  6. Why do they even take the blasted parts in the first place?

    Money, prehaps!
