  1. Because it's a tax write-off!

  2. becasuse even if they dont go and they win they have just become more rich...

  3. guilty as charged, today I had a 30-1 shot I didn't watch (live, I saw her on the simulcast) because I decide to go to another track and watch a horse who was the favorite run somewhere else, and get beat a bloody head.  The only other race I missed this year was when I had 4 going through the sales ring that day and watched the simulcast, I did send my brother though.  Most owners will go more than out of their way to watch them, then bring some treats (beers after the race or donuts and coffee the next morning) back to the barn, win loose or dead heat.  Some don't show up understandibly, they have horses running at 4 or 5 tracks a day, where others have business' that cost millions, not thousands, that they have to run.  The pinnacle of owning a horse is seeing it run, then win, people wouldn be in it if they didn't want to be there, sometimes their lives are a little more consumed than the average person might be able to grasp.

  4. maybe they are at another track watching their other horses

run. could be the other horses are in a bigger race and have

    a better chance of winning.

  5. I think you'll find most owners DO go tot watch their horses run.  You have to remember that some people own a lot of horses and cannot be at every race to see every horse and others may not live in the country.

Owners will always show up for a big race or big occasion.

  6. like the sheik....he has horses all over the world...but he

will be in new jersey on Oct. 27 for the breeders' cup.

  7. Because it's a hobby and a way to, maybe, make money.  Horse racing fans aren't always horse lovers.
