I don't understand what is peoples need to give their kids stupid and often ugly names all for the sake of being "Original". Don't they ever think about how their kids will be effected by it years later?

  1. I like the odd names better than my kids having to grow up with 6kids named Jacob in their class or with 8 named Emily. There is nothing wrong with a little originality. I just don't understand the names like Pilot Inspektor and Peaches HoneyBlossom.

  2. This makes me wonder if you read the article about Talula does the Hula from Hawaii (that was her real name...)

People want their kids to stand out from the crowd--which is fine.  My name is not unusual, but it's not so common that every other person has my name (Denise) so I do like it.  What gets me are the forced fake-ethnic names with no vowels and apostrophes, or naming your kid after a celebrity with a stupid name, or just making up c**p.

I'm a teacher and I have taught (in the same class) Summer Flood and Breezy Day (I kid you not!)

  3. I don't know either I named my daughters' Nickie Lynn and Sarah Beth. I wanted simple names and you should always consider that kid will pick on anyone for anything so don't give them a reason to pick on your kid.

  4. why do parents give all thier kids the same names? yes please lets call them all tom d**k and harry!

  5. could it be that the parents are just stupid to begin with?  I think so!

  6. They do it so that trophy shops everywhere will spell their kid's name wrong.

  7. My kids have unique names that no one else in their school has, but they aren't made up or ugly. They are actual names.. lol

But I do get what you're saying. I went to school with a Candy Bar and a few years ahead of us was a Candy Cane.

I'm absolutely disappointed beyond belief that Jason Lee named his son Pilot Inspektor. Nothing tops that!

  8. lol I agree! There was a guy on here a while back asking if he should change his daughter's name. It was Daysqueecha Yankenella! That is he middle name by the way not her last name! I was called a liar, but I told him people with names that are hard to pronounce or spell are passed over for jobs. It was on a news program one night. I used to babysit for some people that really went all out with their kids they were named Oktober, Halloween,Scout and Ranger. Really strange!

  9. I don't think that any parent sets out to give their kids stupid names. It's all a matter of opinion. My kids names are Blakeli Brianne (after my brother Blake) and Kannyon Eugene. I wasn't trying to be original or different. These are names that I liked and just came to me while pregnant (both times before I even knew the s*x of my kids) Although I do agree that some names are a little out there I also think that it is sometimes better then have 6 Jennifer's in your class and never knowing if someone is talking to you or the Jennifer next to you
