  1. copying others...they shouldnt..

  2. what theres no santa or easter bunny???????????????? jk  my parents told us a few years ago that they werent real but i didnt feel like that lied to me just made things fun for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i trust my parents with everything

  3. Have you ever read fiction?  Watched TV?  Seen a movie?  Read the daily news?  Been told a fairy tale, maybe Little Red Riding Hood?  Santa and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are just ways to let kids enjoy some innocence.  Little girls today dress like miniature 20 year olds.  Little boys think they should know how to tear someone's head off.  What happened to letting children fantasize and just be children?  It's not about trusting your parents.  It's about enjoying life.  Chill.

  4. To paraphrase Terry Pratchett's 'Hogfather', we teach kids to believe the little lies so that they can grow up to learn to believe the big ones, like truth, justice, duty or morality.

HUMANS NEED TO BELIEVE THOSE THINGS ARE TRUE, IN ORDER TO MAKE THEM TRUE.

      --Death (Hogfather, Terry Pratchett)

That's one way of looking at it. Another way is that those things are just symbols of fun, giving, generosity, and magic, and not really meant to be honestly believed. You know, like pretend.

  5. whaaaaaaaaaaat ????

  6. yeah !! Let's get them ! Revenge I say, Revenge !!!!!

    LOL

  7. idk and i don't care....

  8. I'd hate it if people were completely honest all the time. These pleasant lies help us create our culture. It's fun and it's harmless.

  9. They lie because they think it's cute to see little kids screaming for santa or chasing the guy in the bunny suit each year.

  10. Uh, yeah. I think you're taking the Easter Bunny a bit hard. It's all in fun to let kids have a good time. My kids loved getting Easter baskets and presents from Santa. Neither felt betrayed and they're pretty well adjusted people now that they're older.

  11. For me to answer this question honestly, you need to look at what I call "personal truth". Im a great believer in this. Telling your kids that Santa exists is not a bad thing because he lives in everyones hearts that wants him to. It is no different than telling a child that God exists IMHO. Because Santa actually did exist, St Nicholas originally gave presents to poor teenagers and s*x workers when they were homeless and cold. So the concept of Christmas is a long standing tradition and lives in peoples hearts therefore it is real for them.

As for the Easter Bunny, if he lives in our hearts, therefore he does to those who believe he is real.

I dont consider it lying any more than people who say God is real.

If a child decides he is not real, theyll make that decision in their own time. At least we dont beat kids over the head when they announce Santa or the Easter Bunny isnt real, so why do we do that with atheists?

  12. It's a "white lie" that they tell to make kids act right. All make believe things were thought up to make people act right, such as Santa, God, The Easter Bunny even Satan.  Its just a way for them to hold something over the kids to make the kids not want to disappoint the mythical creature that will give them all that they want as long as they obey and do what the parents say.

  13. You should still trust your parents. Society has made a big deal out of commercialism and pagan holidays, so your parents have just bought into that trend. Apparently they have not been taught otherwise or do not see that negative aspects of celebrating pagan holidays. However, I don't think they had bad intentions, so you should forgive them. =)

  14. to make kids happy, it's not like theyre gonna do tha forever

  15. Well I will make this quick so my 4 boys who believe in all the make believe holidays.

Because it makes each holiday more special to think that there is someone else who is thinking of you.  Whether you get a ton of gifts or just one or two it makes it more special.  My kids glow when they see Santa or the Easter Bunny who shows up in our back yard just before Easter just to check on our kids and make sure there being good.   He does too.

Its nice to believe in something even if its not all real.  To me Santa is real we are part of him we give gifts just as we tell our children that he does.  And for the family's who get help during holidays there is a Christmas hes just not a fat and jolly there normal people just like you and me who have it in their heart to give.   I make sure to pick a family who needs help each year and we get them a little something for Christmas so then my kids don't get greedy for holidays and Birthdays.

  16. because its fun, it give kids hope, and something to look forward to. And it allows them to be kids.

I enjoyed going on easter egg hunts and easter basket hunts, i enjoyed waiting for Christmas to see what Santa bought me. And I'm sure my parents enjoyed me being good so they would come. And I never complained about the tooth fairy bringing me $$ every time my tooth fell out. Besides who wants to go out of their way and get gifts for  bad, disrespectful, unappreciative kids????
