What a horrible thing to do in front of your child ! This teaches them bad morals, violence and I just don't get it and the parents know it's wrong !! Then we wonder why our youngsters/teens are the way they are. What do think?

  1. because they are acting more like children than children!!!  when it happen they should be barred for life from the field!!! no ifs ands or butts!!!

  2. It's not only the parents but the coaches and refs too!!!  If they acted like they should maybe they could set an example for not only the kids but the parents too!!!  I've seen coaches act like idiots and trigger the crowd!!!

  3. Because they are idiots!!!!!!!!   Playing sports is supposed to build character and instill good values.  Kids are supposed to learn sportsman like conduct and fair play.  They are supposed to learn that winning isn't everything.  These parents obviously never learned any of that.

  4. Isn't it the truth!! Something else I find appalling. Parents need to set the example of good sportsmanship. As far as I'm concerned, parents that are unruly should be asked to leave. There is a right way to support your child and their team and a wrong way. It's all so much about competitiveness that the fun gets pushed to the side. I say, lighten up parents. The vulgar name calling to the coaches/refs etc are uncalled for. How can we expect anything good from children that are hearing and seeing parents behaving in an inappropriate way.

  5. Because they are living through little Johnny. They are more immature than their kids. That's the main reason I quit umpiring after twenty years as a volunteer. Never again.

  6. Because they are egomaniacs who feel that their kid is #1 and every other kid is s**t,and woe be the parent of the boy who is better than the other kid,and is not afraid to rub it in their face! They should have games where there are no parents,at least to age 10. Plus don't put the games in the media (Newspapers, TV,radio,et al) It'll prevent a lot of swelled heads, especially of the parents!

Well to those kind of parents, I've got news for you: VINCE LOMBARDI'S DEAD!!! And if he wasn't, he wouldn't stand for such behavior toward children, because he would have been smart enough to change with the times! This is the 2000's,not the 1960's!

  7. Absolutely correct! They are trying to live through their children & will only succeed in ruining their lives too.  I went to a little league game where one of my friend's kids was playing. He wasn't very good & the coach yelled at him! I felt so bad for him & the other kids.

On the other hand, the games where they don't keep score so no one loses are wrong, too! You are going to have wins & losses in life. What better way to prepare for this than organized sports?

  8. I think that lots of parents have the misguided idea that their kids are going to be discovered by scouts and make millions of dollars as pro ball players by the time they're 18.  They see every moment on the bench as lost opportunities for their little stars. Little League is not fun and learning for their kids; it's their road to stardom.  And darned if some other kid is going to get playing time and jeopardize their kid's future.  Very sad indeed.

These days, many parents behave that way at school also.  If their children get low grades, these parents blame everyone but the child who hasn't done her homework all year.  We once had a parent jump across the principal's desk and assault her because the principal said that a grade must stand and that no extra credit would be given.

  9. You learn by watching your parents.  Guess what other bad examples these parents set...
