  1. Why? you ask is mostly because they are naive of course

if were not thinking of why we like something or why we believe in something of course its going to get change in the future, but because some people dont ask why? or dont think about it ,because they are sacred whether they know it or not ,is why people automatically assume it we still be the same..

i am fairly young now and i can say that i truly know myself i don't Understand but i do know my self i know why i do certain things.

i think people naturally change all the time whether they realize it or not and i think people with Strong or Solid beliefs or interests {meaning they know why} keep them regardless of what other people say.

  2. ???

Becuae I'm interested in things that interest me; my beliefs are things I think are true.

    I mean, it's almost definitional, isn't it?

Why wouldn't I assume that I'll still find interesting things interesting?

    If I assumed a given thing I believed wasn't true, then I don't believe it, do I?

  3. Robert young people know everything!  We all have Gods own wisdom when we're in our teens but forget it over the years.  By the time we're 30 we're dumber than we were at birth.

Don't believe me???  Go ask a teenager.

  4. its simple really

considering us young people haven't seen the world much

and the older people that are in the spotlight or our "role models" have seemed to **** things up with their beliefs... so it tends to say if we don't have the same beliefs as them, then we should be better off.  Whether or not that's the case... idk

but hey, i love being told i am too stupid or too inexperienced to do something because i am young... It actually makes me better.

  5. Because they have an infinite wisdom that is only afforded to the young. lol

  6. Of course I don't assume I'll have the same beliefs I did five years from now. Even three years ago, I was a radically different person-- and very closed-minded about opinions different from my own. Two years ago I wasn't as closed-minded but was still extremely conservative about s*x and drugs (including alcohol). Now I still would not want to try drugs, but I've accepted that a lot of people smoke pot and drink and that if I eliminated everyone who did from my group of friends I'd be friendless.

I keep a diary, which helps remind me of how much I've changed. My entries from Freshman year are very different from later ones, both stylistically and in terms of content. I think a lot of people would benefit from keeping a regular journal.

I've changed a lot and will doubtless continue to change a lot over the course of next year and throughout college. I am sure some of my VIEWS will change, too, but I think my BELIEFS will remain more or less consistent. To clarify: when I say views vs beliefs, views are perspectives on individual issues (meat consumption, death penalty, abortion, capitalism, etc) but beliefs are the underlying motives for your perspective based on your set of values. Beliefs don't change unless someone's gone through some serious crisis; some people will always think that eliminating poverty is the #1 issue in the world, others will always value life-- any life-- above all else. But views change as you experience new things and learn more about the issues, or hear other arguments.

I will always value equality, but my views on how best to encourage and nurture it may well change. I'm a growing person. While my rate of change may slow down with time, it will never disappear.

  7. Why do people, especially non-young people, hold on to beliefs that are demonstrably false?

  8. one word , " ignorance".

  9. This is a great and timeless question. As someone who is older now, married and with children. I can say that it's not your personality that changes, but your values. As we mature and hopefully become wiser, our understanding of life takes on different priorities. In most cases, people become more conservative. Where at one time I lived only for myself, I now live for my family.

  10. Lack of life experience.

  11. I can see both sides, in some ways people do change over time especially if they tend to go with the flow of society, what is fashionable or acceptable at the time. But if you are a person with strong views or interests then the liklihoodof you staying the same is strong. Just because you get older doesn't mean you completely change your thoughts and tastes, you are still you.

So I thin kit depends how strong your views are and also how indepthly you look at them.

  12. Not sure. I don't assume that because I learn something new everyday. But I'm a person who LOVES learning. If I'm not learning, I'm not growing, and if I'm not growing...then I'm not progressing, AND if I'm not progressing, then I will stay exactly where I am.

But some people are comfortable with their delusional beliefs about life and the world and actually FEAR learning too much. They fear losing the "dream" and being unhappy.

  13. Can only speak for myself, and I'd say it's because I ( a relative youngin) have roughly the same ideals as I did 5 years ago, and they are all universal issues that I would have a hard time seeing myself either not caring about or choosing the opposite of, like women are equal, all races are equal, GLBT are equal, etc etc etc.

Though I've gained more strength and information regarding these issues, the basic beliefs are the same and would very likely in the next 5 years stay the same.

  14. They don't realize how quickly life changes or how much they'll adapt to those changes.

  15. i'm 24 and while my interests have shifted over the years, i am still me. i still have the same core beliefs. i think that we all change our interests, ideals, hobbies, etc...but most people don't change completely.

  16. Because they are afraid of being alone.

So they decide to dream aloud.

Anyway, if you see the potential in some one and you do believe that with your positive energy someone will change for the better then, you go a head and invest your position energy in that person, for the assumed results in 5 years.

    Thanks for asking

  17. Because young people don't have enough life experience yet to have learned that life always changes.

  18. Cuz there innocence/inexperience and raging hormones doesnt help them think beyond the current moment. That way its easier to assume its all going to be golden and rosy forever as it is now.

  19. Exactly... right now they are young people who are addicted to Playstation3 and in five years they are going to be adult coach potatoes addicted to Playstation10. They should never underestimate gaming technology progress...

  20. Well, I've noticed that when you're young, you don't have the capacity to understand time and priorities as much as you do when you get older.  When you get older, you realize that time is precious, and the only thing that never changes in life is CHANGE.

  21. Because some of us have common sense from the beginning?

  22. Because they just do.

  23. These people just haven't lived long enough yet.

  24. I am not interested in doing a nude cartwheel down George Washington Street EVER. You think I'm lying?

Yes, maybe decisions change but the complete mindset that starts developing as a result of childhood experiences don't usually change.

  25. When we are young we believe we are knowledgable in the ways of the world.

At that point in our lives most of us are in high school or college so many of us are "finding ourselves". We think we finally know who "we" are and what "we" want out of life.

We are just getting into politics, we're developing our ideas and belief systems, and we are still fresh with enthusiasm and naivete.

This all leads us to believe we possess an infinite state of wisdom and that it cannot change.
