Why do people always assume that cheerleaders are brats?

Because i'm not, I am preppy and stuff but i'm not a ***** and i hate it when people say all cheerleaders are, what do you think?

i live in the UK and cheerleading isn't big here so i wouldn't know

but yeh i get sick of being stereotyped too

same as when people will think i'm boring and stuck up because i'm "smart" (get good grades)

I don't really understand that either, I'm not a cheerleader, but I'm the "Type" I think that (this is gonna sound cliche') people are jealous. Because the appearence of a cheerleader is Pretty, Active, Has it all together and life is good with no problems except what to wear to prom?! And that's not true. Cheerleaders are normal people with normal problems. I think people just assume that since you look good. Life is Good. And that everything is too easy and you don't have to work for what you have. Which is unfair. But people are basically stupid. So hey. That's what you're gonna get from them.

guilty by association. girls who are cheerleaders tend to believe in the stereotype, therefore they act like the sterotype. they realize, oh ****, i'm a cheerleader, this must mean im an auto popular, and that's when they start acting like lil brats. i'm sure that if they weren't influenced like that, then they wouldnt believe that that is the okay way to act. their suits are not that conservative either. the uniforms in my school are very revealing, adding onto their dominating attitude. i believe that it's just in their nature to act like that. the majority of cheerleaders are brats, and that's why people think of that.

i'm not a cheerleader, but my friends who are tend to act bratty when around their cheerleader friends. it's like girls WANT to be a cheerleader, and so when they are, they feel like they are better. sorry if i sound so know-it-all, but this is how it is at my school, telling it real.

i know of a few good cheerleaders, so i won't say that they are brats. but it is in most of their minds that they now have the power to act however they want because the football team is loving them. ah well, the girls who DO act like that will learn eventually [:

cheerleading is pretty cool. i wouldn't try it myself because it's an afterschool sport & i'm already doing the max amount of sports that we are allowed, but if i had the room, i probably might give it a chance.
