  1. In English spelling, it is Columbia - as the first Answerer pointed out, the District of Columbia is the American capital. Add the Columbia River and Columbia University, as well as Columbia Missouri.

There are many things to annoy you - this is relatively minor in the pantheon of complaints.

You might enjoy listening on YouTube to the Helsinki Complaints Choir - rocking music and a way to put the annoyances of everyday life in perspective.

    Good luck to you

  2. Because of the District of Columbia (Yes, spelled like that) in the United States of America. It sounds the same as the country 'Colombia' so people that don't know or just can't help themselves, assume it's spelled with a ' u '

It is very annoying, but it's them making themselves look foolish to people that actually know.

  3. English spelling.

Way do Spanish speaks call London Loundres?  Same thing

  4. Because of the District of Columbia and I guess Christopher Columbus has a bit to do too. I understand what you mean about being annoying!!! I totally agree with you. Its something that ppl from the States tend to adapt as theirs, Its like calling themselves "Americans" when every person born in the American Continent (North, south, central and Caribbean) are American!! lol Calling Colombians, Columbians its something they adapt!! And to the guys that spoke about us Latins calling London, Loundres, first of all its LONDRES, Second Londres to London is a Spanish translation, Colombia to Columbia isn't!!! Don't make "smart" comments when you don't know!!
