Why do people always talk during a movie?

I went to see Mamma Mia tonight, and a few people who were in the theatre with me saw it because Dark Knight was sold out. Now, I don't care why someone sees a movie, but I hate that people go in there, talk loudly, laugh at inappropriate times (it's a musical, of course they're gonna break into song at odd times!), or make comments about every little thing like it's Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

When will people get that a movie theatre is not the place to socialize, and go someplace like a bar instead? Also, when will people learn not to speak every thought they have? I'm sorry, but it's really getting out of hand in society.

I agree. I had a woman in front of me commentating throughout the movie to her friend. Saying everything that was going on in the movie as if she & everyone else weren't watching it. I actually got so mad I told her to Shut up. Then she said to her friend.."I think she just told me to shut up". (what an idiot)

It's really irritating!

Unfortunately kids are being raised with less, or no manners. So, it'll only get worse.

We were taught to respect other people & what they were doing. (& that included being quiet during a movie so others can hear the movie & not me)

I hate it as well....Nothing is more disrespectful than chatting while in a movie theater.  I have gone to the manager several times to say that someone is talking and making it hard for me to enjoy the movie.  The thing is that I have to leave the theater to do this and miss more of the movie.  

If the manager comes and tells someone to be quiet...It is better than if I have to do it...Plus, they seem to listen better...

Its because nobody respects anything or anyone anymore! People are getting dumber and dumber, its like they're devolving. Its terrible when you can't even spend two hours of your life in peace, enjoying something you like to do. The world has gone to ****.

I agree with you.... that is one of my pet peeves too.  Sadly, manners seems to be out-dated.
