Why do people always think kids will get teased because of their name?

I am 14 and the only time I have ever heard a kid's name get made fun of was because they were a horrible and annoying person so other kids changed their name into a mean name. Kid's don't get picked on because of their name but because people don't like them personality wise.

i agree. i wasn't well liked.  i was the nerd of all nerds. noone, i mean noone was my friend.  

they did make fun of my name.  my name is simple, sicilia.  my nickname was sisi, they would say "peepee" instead of sisi.  "you big sissy, sissy".

Because its true.  Starting in K I was teased and called "d**k Tracy" because I went by Tracie.  I started asking to be called my real name (Theresa) and everyone called me "Mother Teresa".  We won't even go into my last name.

I had plenty of friends, so it wasn't a personality issue.

Well, if you are blessed with a nice conventional name, you are lucky, but some parents really go way out and choose some real yucky ones for their kids. Imagine being called Eudoxia.

It has been shown that kids with 'different' names don't do as well in school academically as those with a name considered to be typical.  Besides the pressure of being normal in school - you have to contend with the fact that your parents named you after food or appliances or combined two names just to satisfy dead people.  Chandelier, Shineequa, Ontiqua, Ronaica, oh - and this girl named Ralph (after her grandfather) - these kids don't stand a chance!  

Give a kid a break and think of them instead of yourself when naming a child.  They may get picked on for their name before anyone realizes they are a good person.

because its true.... kids make fun of other kids names that are unusual or unfamiliar to them.. i saw it growing up, i DID it growing up, i was in 2nd grade!!  kids will be brats.. we called jeremy germy because he was also gross, so we called him germy....  i cant think of any of the bad ones, i block out a lot of those times growing up.   but i do remember classmates laughing at other classmates names..  even normal ones that they can take and change to be somethin funny or stupid
