Think about it: In 1999, the Spurs were criticized for winning a championship in a 50 game, lockout season. However, what people fail to recognize, is that during the playoff run, they went an amazing 15-2 to win the ship.
In 2003, deemed old, slow, and boring, the Spurs went 60-22 and did the imposable and knocked out the Lakers in the 2nd round to go on and win their 2nd championship. The spurs had so many geezers on the team, including Danny Ferry, Steve Kerr, Kevin Willis, Steve Smith, and last but not least, David Robinson. Once again, they beat the odds and won a ship, marking the birth of a dynasty.
In 2005, with questions lingering about Tim Duncan losing his effectivness, he once again silenced critics by coming up big when he needed to and helped SA beat Detroit in game 7 of the 05 Finals. Manu Ginobili, Robert Horry, and Brent Barry were huge in the series, stepping up and making some clutch baskets when needed.
In 2007, the old talk once again seemed to come up, as most of the Spurs players were on the wrong side of 30. The year before, after being beat in a grueling 7 game series against the Dallas Mavs, many media idiots wrote off the Spurs as having their window of oppourtunity closed due to being old. WRONG! This time, it was Tony Parker stepping it up for the Spurs during their championship run leading the Spurs to a 4-0 sweep against the NBA's next stud, [[Lebron]] and once again hushing the media.
One thing about SAS is they haven't been able to repeat or successfully defend any of their titles.
In 04 it was the .4 Spurs killer
In 06 it was the foul on Dirk from Manu
In 08 it was a hampered Manu.
With the west getting stonger and the Spurs making some changes, [[Nothing too drastic]] I can smell the media idiots once again writing off the Spurs this upcoming season...only to fly under the radar led by the best Power Foward in NBA history Tim Duncan and capture ship number 5.
So...what is your valid reason for saying the Spurs will not make it far this season.?
