Question:

Why do people ask?

I understand that not everyone flies several times a year. However, I do wonder why people asked, almost daily, about what can go in their carry on and how they should pack their liquids. When you buy your tickets online, there is a link to TSA, information about prohibited items, TSA 3-1-1 policy, etc. Moreover, All of the major airlines have this info and link on thier pages. Also, I wonder why people ask questions about baggage weights, instead of going to their carrier's webpage and clicking on the "Baggage" tab or searching. Are people lazy or do they just dont know to do this?

  1. Some people just don't travel or fly if they do so when it comes time to fly they are clueless; my mom would have no idea how to even look that stuff up online.  Other people may be wary the info they are getting is not the most current since that can happen too.  They may also want to know tips for packing liquids, not just the TSA approved method but ideas on what has worked for others that kept it from leaking, breaking, whatever.

  2. I have often wondered too...obviously many do not "notice" that info that is given to them and just don't "thinkof" going to their airlines website to look up the luggage regulations.  It is sooo easy to use the search bar to find simple info like this, but MANY people just do not understand that all you have to do is enter a phrase...a group of words describing the info you want...in  the search bar and click "go" and the info will be right in front of them.  Many people have NO research skills at all.  I think it is ALWAYS best to give resources for these people to look at so they begin to understand how to use the internet to find info for themselves...that's how we all  had to learn.   Many are intimidated by the computer or internet...and we can help them learn to use them to find info for themselves.

  3. It's basic ignorance and/or basic laziness. Either someone else has paid for their ticket and they're just along for the ride, so they don't think about stuff like that from the start, or they're too lazy to make the effort to find out, beyond asking OTHERS to do the work.
