  1. to mask they haven’t read it

  2. You can read it many times back to back and come up with different meanings. It's hugely subjective and open ended. Realistically the last translation from Latin may have been a mistake. Now anyone seems to read it without knowledge on how to even understand it.

  3. Most of the atheists in R&S just repeat the mantra and have never opened a Bible in their life.   That is why they hate it when someone repeats scripture.  They don't comprehend scripture.

  4. Please explain this oft-touted "context" in such a way that makes genocide, torture and blatant disregard for human rights OK.

Whenever I hear believers yak about "context" it's a sure sign they are trying to excuse the horrors and absurdities prevalent in their holy book.

As for sticking to the question (it's not really a question unless you think we are psychic and able to answer why others do things - it's really a rant/criticism)  I'll put my knowledge of the Bible up against anybody's in this thread.  Belief does not determine knowledge or vice versa, trust me.

  5. Yes it does show a biased and unintelligent way of looking at it.

I like when Athiests try and quote the bible or take a biblical event and turn it around.. why do they even bother when they dont read the bible? I just dont understand it.

My favorite was when an athiEst emailed me and told me I was going to h**l..... lol

  6. What would be the correct context? Slavish devotion?

  7. Many folks read but don't understand. There are so many translations of the Bible, most can find one they relate to, but it's good if you have questions to ask people or seek other books by theologians. Sometimes even my minister says "See what you all can find out about this verse, because I'm not sure I get it either!"

  8. Some are curious, some seek a confrontation, others to prove a point. No matter. I'm here for the ones seeking the truth and if one of the others benefits from it, I count that a blessing.

And it matters little to me if any of them have read the bible or not. There are no prerequisites. Come as you are, ask, and I will do my best to answer your question. I would hope all believers would feel the same way.

  9. Because there twats who think they know everythink about it when they dont they should read the bible then ask questions. Stupid dumb asses lol

  10. The same thing could be said about those who make negative remarks about Mormons and Muslims.  They, also have never read the documents in relation to these two religions, yet come up with such hate, and prejudice just by listening to others, who lack the same research.

  11. The motives could be many.

I too, at one time asked when I was ignorant.

I thank God for those patient individuals that took the time to inform me. These were Catholics, Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans...and many others. Each had their own "take" on God, yet each held certain things in common- Jesus Christ, and a love for Him.

Every search for the Lord must begin from wherever the person is.

  12. The dumb questions help my faith.  It shows how deliberately ignorant people become.

  13. I think they are curious about our Lord but are afraid to ask a direct question without being rude.

Many people, like Satan, quote scripture out of context in an attempt to deceive people into turning away from God.  Matt 4:6

  14. No.  Most of them have read it and the questions are asked in order to sort out things that do not make sense or are unclear.

  15. uuuummmmmm they ask the questions because they want to know an answer to soemthing that they were confused about, that they didnt understand or that they were curious about and wanted others opinions, views and input

thats what we are are here for is it not

questions ,answers, knowledge, input, views, opinions

i think it is more biased unintelligent to suggest that because people accept they dont understand something and ask soemoene else about it that means they are biased and unintelligent

  16. Anyone who reads the bible and believes its content is an idiot at best...deal with it.

  17. Maybe, but maybe not... My thoughts on why all the questions is for those that are lost and unconsciously looking for the right way... let them stay and ask all the questions they like... it just proves to me that more and more people every day has a question about God!! How amazing!!!

  18. The same reason people vote for Democrats and never looked at the planks in the political platform.

  19. A lot of Christians, when confronted with verses of the Bible that are unfavorable, claim that the verses are being taken out of context. Really, how can context justify verses that demand genocide?

  20. I have read the whole bible a few times and find the atrocities listed to be contradictory.  Anything that leaves too many questions and doubt is not to be believed and trusted.  It eludes common sense.

  21. it shows that people aren't willing to do the research. Both for believers and non-believers of all religions. People depend on someone to guide them and they follow mindlessly and in the end hope its true. I suggest everyone do some research on both sides it will definitely open your eyes and mind.

  22. Speaking of biased unintelligentism, have you ever noticed that when an informed atheist asks Christians about something ugly in the Bible, most Christians fall all over themselves saying "it's a metaphor" or "you took that out of context"?

For example, where is the metaphor in Lot offering up his virginal daughters to an angry mob just to prevent them from breaking down his door? (Genesis 19:8)

  23. GK Chesterton said we can look at something 1,000 times and then see it for the first time.

    God love you!

  24. Why do people try and get answers to life from a book thats fictional and tell you if you give your money away and pray that youll get repaid when you die? lol

  25. Maybe they wanted to get the two points?

Maybe they think it makes them sound smart?

I dont know, I guess the best we can do is keep putting true principles out there and maybe some of them will stick to a few people and they will be prompted to pray and learn about true principles.

  26. Very few people have read the Bible with any degree of attention - and hardly any Christians.

To read the Bible and still remain a Christian one would need to be a monster.

  27. I found in my life experience, that atheists know the bible more indepth than a great number of christians.

Where did you get the 98% from?  Do you have a source you can cite.
