Why do people ask really stupid questions (my brother wants to know)?

my brother was surfin the net and asked me why people ask stupid questions to people who dont know them (he"s 12) and i didnt know what to tell him. can anyone help

some people are just stupid/high/drunk, plus one time me and my friend asked if it was wrong to date a hooker just for a laugh soooo yeah, people just ask what they can.

This is what you tell your bro. People are stupid. They go on yahoo answers cause they are overdramatic like this stupid ***** who was asking yahoo answers if she was pregnant. He is pretty smart for being twelve it seems, yes there are many people that are stupid and the number multiplies over the internet.

I think people ask stupid questions online because, they're bored and don't have better things to do. To get attention, they try to irk people's nerves with obnoxious questions and sadly they succeed...

I think it is because sometimes the really stupid question are the hardest to answer and they just expect other people to know the answer for them...just like this one it is pretty stupid and i don't really know the correct answer...!!!
