Why do people assume that cartoons are only for little kids?

Question

I personally love cartoons, especially anime. But when some people are asked if they like cartoons they say "No, i'm not a baby. I dont watch cartoons." or something like that.

Now, could you imagine an 6 year old watching death note?

So my question is why do people think cartoons are only for little kids, and then they make fun of people who watch cartoons?

If i'm confusing you, let me know. lol =D

Well for one thing anime are not cartoons theres a difference in art and style. Everyone knows that. I do think cartoons are more designed for a younger audience. And anime is for an older audience in somewhat there are those that are for a younger audience like pokemon and digimon and the americanized dubbed version of naruto.

Now i do watch american cartoons and the old hanna barbera cartoons like flintstones, yogi bear etc. And i like them but i know the diff between anime and cartoons and i try to educate people on that.

Well death note is not a cartoon its an anime (Which are not cartoons) its not meant for a young audience its meant for a older audience but young kids still watch it a try to imitate it and get hurt or in trouble and thats why you see animes getting taken of the air cause of complaints. Naruto was in trouble for a while but it survived.

It's because they're ignorant people. They watch south park and the simpsons and family guy. What makes them think it's not a cartoon?

Most of those people are adults, and they must have kids that watch plenty of anime or cartoons like us, they don't understand well as us. Also many teenagers, are trying to be all grown up, because they think everything for little babies or kids, when they probably watch them theirselves.

people think because their past a certain age their to old for somthing.

but thats not true. no matter how old u get, all ur past years are still in u. so people that still like anime are more connected to themselves.

They assume cartoons are for kids because cartoons really are for kids.

Look at anything released today that is considered a cartoon, with a few exceptions almost everything is considered, made and aimed at kids.

Anime on the other hand, the question is why do people consider Anime cartoons. Yes they are both animated but there are fundamental differences. You talk about Death Note being a cartoon, but it's not a cartoon. Animated yes, but not a cartoon.

Cartoons are to Anime, what Anime is to Hentai.

Just because television shows, movies and p**n are all done with real people, in front of the camera doesn't make them the same thing.

I'm 41 years old and I still watch cartoons. But I chalk it up to being young at heart and not immaturity. Simpsons-cartoon, Family Guy-Cartoon, American Dad- cartoon, Aqua Teen Hunger Force-cartoon, Boondocks-cartoon. I think you see where I'm going with this. They're design for adults by adults. Enjoy what you like until you go out in public wearing underoos of your favorite characters is all.lol

I dont see anything wrong with watching them.

and i find that some of them even have adult humor
