I find it odd that some people back in park. I watch the two same people everyday back in park and almost hit the other cars, and go back and forth 5 times to get it right. It ends up taking more time then just parking like a normal person and then backing out. I wonder, why not just park in forward? I think it is a sub culture of some kind and must say something about you as a person. I just find the practice odd, anyone else? Any back in parkers?

  1. When I first started work, I would pull in like normal.  After a few weeks, however, I took a page from several others in the lot to back into the spots.  I've found that in the mornings I'm willing to take my time to pull into the spot.  In the afternoons, however, I can't wait to get out back home as soon as I can...being able to zip out of my spot right away really helps to facilitate this!

  2. personally I do it because I tend to end up having big SUVs next to me when I come out of places its like my car is a magnet for them an its easier to leave.

  3. They are getting ready for the LeMans style start in the afternoon "who can get out of the parking lot first" race.  Anything to save a few seconds so they can spend more time in the afternoon traffic jams on the freeway.

  4. I pack in quite often though I am a capable drive and it only takes me one try. The main reason for this I assume is to make it easier when you are leaving. You are just able to drive foward as opposed to backing out. Thats why I do it.

Perhaps where they park is a lot and gets very busy when they leave, so being able to pull out saves them time and perhaps a accident.

    Just my .02c

  5. I back in because you do not have to look for moving cars behind you. However, i do not have to go back and forth 5 times to get it right.

  6. It's a habit for some drivers and a safety for others.

as for me, it's about auto insurance($1000 deductible), some a****le threw a sharp blender blade from 14th floor and it smashed my rear window, rear window costs less than my deductible. It's a learned habit for me but I don't back-in in public places or where I might back up traffic.  I only back in when I'm at my Apartment.

  7. I am a back in parker because I am the MOST retarded forward parker. It only takes me one time to get into my space correctly...and I drive a GMC Yukon. h**l, I impress most MEN with the way I handle that truck.

Whenever I try to pull forward, I can never park straight...I don't know what that's all about...but when I back in, I'm straight EVERY time on the first try...so I ONLY back in if I can.

  8. Because it's safer to come out of a parking space forwards - you can see what's coming!

  9. I do, but it only takes me one try. I like to b/c in a crowded lot, it's easier to see where you're going when you are pulling out; watching for pedestrians and other vehicles. Who cares what direction someone pulls in, as long as they stay between the lines. That really irks me, when someone is so brain dead they are taking up two spots b/c they're too lazy to adjust their parking.

  10. Assume you mean parallel park. I've seen some people drive forward into a parallel parking space, and drive over the curb to get into the space.  This can throw the front wheels out of alignment, and cause severe tire wear.  Most people back into a space pulling foward only once.

  11. Because pulling out is much easier than. It definitely helps if you know how to drive though.

  12. i sometimes back in. for some reason all my family's cars and neighbors have been backing into each other. it is easy-er to back in, and just drive out when ya leave.   have you ever been to Costco trying to back out and a big a** lifted truck is in your view? imagine if you just backed in.
