Could it be that some of these folks feel connected to the royals on some level just because they love to constantly read about them?

  1. ITs just cuorisity to know about them. their way of daily life what they do at times do they see movies. do they joke around how they bring up their kids What a commoner does they may be doing the same but not many things which a commoner does.So its interesting  as they have all the time in this world yet some are not the lucky ones

  2. im princess & i know that people become addicted to know about royalty , their familly .etc . perhaps they like to know about them &follow them .

  3. Perhaps royals are just interesting to read about. It is a form of historical study for many people. Then there are those people who are just fans.

I have been studying the royals for over 30 years;I was first interested in Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II because they were women in powerful positions. Then I started studying Edward VII because of his association with Lillie Langtry and became quite interested in Alexandra.Edward VIII and Mrs. Simpson proved to be quite a story. It is just informative and fun for me to read about not just the people, but the times that they live(d) in as well.

I also read a lot of other books as well, not just about royalty. And here is something for you to ponder: I am a classically trained pianist who knows something about the era,the period in time about each piece I play.My teacher(trained in a musical conservatory) once told me that this knowledge would help me play better.

Knowing about what happened in the past can open your eyes as to what is happening now and in the future.

  4. People become addicted to reading about royalty simply because the things they are on a pedestal. Their actions affect not only the country which they rule but the world. On the other hand, actions of celebrities do not affect people directly. The latter's actions only serves as an entertainment for people. Furthermore, it is interesting to learn about how they go about ruling a country or empires and maintaining peace within their own families.

I am a self-confessed addict when it comes to reading anything about royalty. It is pretty interesting to know and learn how the current European royal families are all related. I also confess that I love gossip and stuff about royal families are noteworthy and more fun to read than that of celebrities. It is pretty baffling on how some of them are more deprived than compared to a normal individual or even a celebrity.

Truth to be told, the n**i costume Prince Harry wore gained huge attention because he is supposed to be a prince of a country that was attacked by the n***s. It could have caused ties between countries or treaties to be severed. Meanwhile, no one really gets affected  if Britney Spears shaves her head. It simply catches the people's attention because she is a celebrity. It is not as though the lifestyle of people are going to be affected just because some trainwreck of a celebrity shave her hair off.

  5. it has nothing to do with Britney or any Hollywood star,

that makes it well worth it for me.

  6. I can only speak for myself: I love history, English and Spanish history to be more specific. Since high school...

The Tudor era is my favorite and I still find and read new things about The House of Tudor.

I do pay closer attention to the news related to some monarchs, but in truth, it is their history what fascinates me.....

For instance, what the member "abcd" wrote about Prince Harry's costume as a n**i, well...it goes a lot further than just being Germany a country that attacked the UK, there is more history behind it:

During the World War 1, the UK broke diplomatic relations with Germany and King George V (Queen Victoria's grandson) changed the name Saxe-Coburg and Gotha because it sounded too German (1917), the royal family gave up all their rights to any royal title under the German crown and created a new name for the ruling British royal house: WINDSOR (which sounds a lot more British than Saxe-Coburg and Gotha). The main reason was the British Royal House growing unpopular because they came from a German royal house which was still carrying the German name while the Germans were attacking the British, so the country started questioning the monarchy system. The change to Windsor was one of the strategies used to save it. During World War II, Edward VIII after abdicating in 1937 (the Queen's uncle) was also removed from the British Military in 1940, due to some accusations of being pro-n**i.....

Then, Prince Harry dressed as a n**i, I figure the Queen must have been very angry with him...

[I used most of this paragraph from part of one of my answers to another question in this forum]

You got me all worried now......

Does that mean I would have to attend R.A. meetings?

    R.A. = Royalty Anonymous

    :)

  7. I guess for the same reason those who do not like the royals read every posting and continually try to make fun of them. They are interesting and the the mockers know they are not
