I am a supporter of Barack Obama, and though i understand why people choose not to support him, i have heard some remarks that he will "ruin the nation" if he becomes president. I think that statement is a little much, but i like hearing both sides of the argument.

  1. Hey there,

This is from an Obama speech in mid-August:

If we think that we can secure our country by just talking tough without acting tough and smart, then we will misunderstand this moment and miss its opportunities. If we think that we can use the same partisan playbook where we just challenge our opponent's patriotism to win an election, then the American people will lose. The times are too serious for this kind of politics.

The guy sounds like he has Americas best interest at hand.  I feel it will be a close election.

  2. Ignore them.  They have been brainwashed by the right-wing noise machine--Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc.--and they don't think for themselves.  I predict you won't get one answer from them that makes sense.

Of course, he will not ruin the country.  What's he going to do--start an unnecessary war, steal an election and make everyone hate us around the world?

  3. People are afraid that his brand of "change" is too extreme.  They believe it is so extreme that it will forever change how this country functions.  They believe that while not perfect, this country obviously has done something to get to where it is, and therefore why change things so dramatically?

I am not arguing either way here, just explaining why people are using the term "ruin".

  4. umm well umm ummm welll..i hope he is better prepared than his speeches...but you know i dont think he is..you can be book smart and not have any common sense...and all those that keep saying they support him keep giving him an inflated ego...

  5. Because they actually believe Limbaugh when he tells them Obama is a socialist. Or are racists who think that electing a black man means we will become a third world nation. I don't know. Ignorance and typical Republican fear-mongering.

  6. Vague (sometimes race based) fears.  His policies are sound--and even if somebody disagrees with them, they'd have to admit he's been sharp and complex on policy issues from the start.

  7. You would be much better off going with John Mccain here is a website that tells you just how great he is http://www.johnmccain.com/Undecided/WhyM...  this is why you should not vote for STUPID OBAMA http://www.obamablog08.com/category/reas... yes he is the wronge person for the job you need a great moral christian man to run the USA and also i might add Brack Obama doesnt even say the plege yea so VOTE FOR MCCAIN

  8. Because he's a socialist.

  9. because hes a commie Muslim terrorist!

but in reality its because many Americans are ignorant and stupid.

Have fun with the rupub neocon police state.

Pancakes answer is a perfect example of how plain ignorant and stupid people in America are.

  10. the united states is a capitalistic society he supports socialism which isn't bad its just not what america was created to be

  11. Put Obama's rhetoric up against McCain. Obama wins hands down.

The polls are starting reflect that American people are getting it and starting to warm to Obama.

Republicans are getting nervous, McCain's VP is one such example.

  12. check out what the wall street journal is saying about him

His energy policies will ruin the economy

    they are impossible

    his economic policies are worse

a lot of people like to vote to tax the rich but that just means the rich are not starting or investing in new businesses here

which we experienced under clinton 1

he hangs out with racists for 20 years ...but he is not one.... right

    arghh!!!!

  13. Because they've been brainwashed by selfish republican ideals.

  14. His economic plan is standard Democratic boilerplate. That is same-old, same-old.

I used to be a Democrat and this is the same tired stuff that I've been hearing since the Johnson Administration.

It has not worked and has only cost more and more money while making government larger and larger and less and less efficient.

One of the reasons that I left the Democratic party was that I was willing to admit that this stuff was simply not working.

I've always owned my own businesses and I've seen firsthand the direct effects of Democratic policies on businesses large and small.

Their taxation and regulatory policies cause increases in prices, make American businesses less competitive in the global market, force businesses to close or move operations to lower tax States or overseas which means job losses, and generally punish the very people who make America innovative and strong.

Government has never and will never "create" jobs.  Get over that idea.

Only the private sector does that.

Government destroys jobs and stifles job creation with tax and regulatory policy.

Every policy of the Obama platform has been tried before in some fashion and failed.  Some of them have even been tried by Republicans and failed.

Those who do not remember history's lessons are doomed to repeat its failures.

A vote for Obama insures that it will happen.

If you want America to sink into recession, possibly depression, lose jobs and its place as a competitive force in the global economy, then go ahead and vote Obama.

I've seen it before and don't want to see it again.

    I'll be voting for McCain.

He's not necessarily my very favorite of all time but compared to the alternative, he's our only hope for a decent economic future.

  15. Let me ask you... Why do you support him???

  16. He has already said he will raise taxes for the upper middle class, repeal tax breaks for the very wealthy. The Dems will never learn-when that is done, it stops capital investment and creation of jobs. Taxes collected plummet.

He has said he plans on talking with the Iran's of the world. Expect while he is doing this, the war being fought in the middle east will begin being fought as the Muslims attack inside the USA. There will be more 9/11's. Count on it.

  17. Good question. If you support him, you must have your reasons, and hopefully it is not only  because you watch him speak, and believe his message of hope and change.  He is not unlike many politicians who make promises which won't be kept. He is a charismatic and energetic speaker, but you really need to dissect his plans. Even if you don't agree with the fact that he is a socialist, and if you forget about his past friends and advisers, he cannot pay for all of the programs he is promising. Politicians lie, math never lies. He is promising tax cuts for 95% of the working class, while proposing entitlements that will add 360 million to the budget the first year. How does he intend to pay for this and all of his other proposed programs. His tax cuts are a smoke screen, because they will be phased out. He wants to cut social security payments, he will let the Bush tax cuts expire, he will raise corporate taxes, which will stifle investment and job creation and lead to higher unemployment. Then he will just keep on printing money to pay for his hand outs, which will further weaken the dollar making everything more expensive, etc, etc, etc. This is how he will ruin this country. This is just the beginning. He also has the Democratic controlled congress behind him.  They have been promoting liberal policies for decades, and his far left policies if passed will turn us into a welfare state.
