30 years ago (70's) my mom said they were calling for global cooling and it never happened. Now they are talking about global warming, Al Gore is just making up stuff. I don't believe in it i just want to know what other people think.

  1. Because they've been brainwashed, and don't listen to real scientists.

  2. I don't know. I don't believe in global warming because I'm Jewish, not al gore religion. And the scientific evidence is not enough to convince me to believe into this lie.

  3. Because Al Gore is all knowing and he has seen into the future. GLOBAL WARMING IS TRUE AND ALL HUMAN LIFE IS TO BLAME.

    not.

I don't know, I think people just take everything for fact now. I mean how does Al Gore know anything about this. Did he all the sudden become a scientist or something. Its all just really stupid.

  4. Your mom's memory isn't quite accurate (that's a long time ago).  In the 70's, there was nothing more than a little speculation relative to the cooling trend from the 1940's to the 1970's and a couple of popular media articles about the subject.  There wasn't anything remotely similar to the science that's been done over the past 100 years studying global warming.

Al Gore is definitely not making this stuff up.  Concerns over global warming started among scientists over 100 years ago.  Virtually everything Gore says is based on actual scientific research by climate scientists.  While he may not communicate everything with appropriate precision, he's definitely not making it up.

  5. It is because a disease called liberalism.

    Some symptoms may included

    telling lies uncontrollably

taking freedoms away from other people

    corrupt

    believe anything you hear

    raising taxes

  6. Because that's what the scientific data says.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Because of the data, most all scientists agree.  Including every major scientific organization, including:

The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

The "global cooling" thing was just a few guys, with no good data, who got way more attention in the media than they deserved.  They weren't at all like today's global warming scientists, the were like the few "skeptics".

    Bottom line:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know...  Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point.  You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

    Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

  7. Most of these college kids don't go to church enough and make the mistake of thinking everything their professors and activists say on campus is the truth.  In reality, at least in America, those of end up teach on college campuses are second list professional that haven't done much with their careers and can only make money by creating problems. There are exceptions to this but that is typical.  One reason why my degree is still in the envelope it was mailed to me in and will probably never be framed.

  8. There is no direct answer to whether GLabal Warming is real or just a thought.

But I do know that religion should play no role in people's decision making process of fact or fiction. I am a proud Athiest, but respect every religious person out there. I do not however, respect how ignorant people can be. The answer "God promised us never to have a destruction again" or "God, Jesus, and the Heaven above would not want us beings killed" is just simply not thought out. Your religion should have no role what-so-ever in deciding a issue such as global warming, abortion, or war. It is just simply, to be summed up in one word, ignorant.

I do not say any of this to offend anyone or their religion. I am proud of people who put their faith and beliefs into a religion. I just choose to not do so. I just feel that when anybody brings up their Religion as a excuse to why there is no such thing is not really thinking for themselves.

I could go on and on about this haha. E-mail me if you would like to chat some more about this!

  9. It really is happening. You need to watch Discovery Channel more often, and the news.

  10. There are three separate issues here: Global warming, its cause, and how to fix it.

    1. Global warming is real. It is a short-term trend (far less than 1,000 years) within a long-term trend (somewhat over 10,000 years) of global cooling. Climatologists, with about 100 years of good data and less than half a million years of guestimates are correct, the earth is cooling. Geologists, with about 2,000 years of good data and a quarter billion to five billion years of very well supported data are correct, the earth is cooling.

    2. What causes it? Nobody knows. The world climate is the most complex of all complex systems of which we are aware. There are literally millions, perhaps billions or trillions, of factors that act on the climate. To focus on one factor - CO2 emissions from human activity - is superstition, not science. The scientific debate is not over about Newtonian Physics, why should it be over about global warming?

    3. The fix - the Kyoto Protocols - would transfer enormous sums of wealth from countries that encourage scientific inquiry to countries that stifle it. The backers of the Kyoto Protocols admit that this would have little effect on the climate. It would, however, have catastrophic effect on our ability to gain a better understanding of the complex system that is our climate, and to develop fixes if fixes are needed.

Reduction of pollution and energy independence are reasons enough to limit the use of fossil fuel. Global warming does not make the cut.

  11. I thought the same as you for awhile then I opened my eyes....

Even if it is a lie why not make an effort to be more green anyway? Cant hurt anything. too many many people are only worried about themselves.

  12. Its really hapenning. Do you watch the news or discovery channel?

  13. Those type of people are misinformed, they obviously don't have their facts straight.
