I myself believe that there is life elsewhere in our own galaxy, but contact is nearly impossible and the idea of aliens landing on earth is just plain crazy. It makes me laugh when i watch the discovery channel and see all of those alien believers and junk. It just makes me rage. Please reply.....i must know why....

  1. They did not land here, they "put" us here !

  2. belive in fame?

  3. Yeah, it bugs me too.  I've been watching this phenomenon for 40 years and it's always the same junk.

You would really enjoy Philip Klass' books.  They're old, but very thorough in the investigations he did.  Look over this wiki article and notice that all his books are listed near the bottom.  Some are available online.

People believe in UFOs because they are fun to believe in.  The media are filled with pro UFO nonsense to bolster their confidence.  Others have strange experiences, (usually dreams), or have seen unusual things and immediately rushed to the ET explanation.  They are undisciplined thinkers.  The occasional hoax or exaggerated account doesn't help any.  And when TV news programs, (most notably, Fox), run UFO reports, people believe these are legitimate claims because they made it on TV.  I have seen some incredibly stupid reports on television, all presented with wide-eyed bewilderment by the reporters.  One such report was jet contrails.  Another was Venus, out of focus.

Edit: The post below me reminded me.  These stories also have a tendency to get embellished over the years.  The claims that are being made as historical fact are very often far from the truth and really the equivalent of urban legends.  And sometimes a story that was completely debunked, let's say it was outright proven or confessed fraud, keep coming back.  I've seen the Gulf Breeze sightings and photos go through a couple of revivals, despite the fact that they were proven fraudulent decades ago.  Same with the Waltons' Fire in the Sky hoax and Roswell.  It looks like the alien autopsy is being resurrected again.  It was a proven hoax, too.

  4. my old mantra used to be "People are Stupid", but that seems rude. (and I keep getting reported), so from now on, the Kinder and Gentler Faesson believes that "People are Silly".

the discussion is really unclear.  You asked "Why do people believe..." and I think the best answer to that is "They are silly".

I use "Silly" in its "Scientific" sense.  That is, jumping to a conclusion not directly supported by the evidence.

I saw a bright light move across the sky once during the day.  It made no sound and for awhile a smaller light followed it.  Hundreds of people saw it with me.

I sincerely doubt that anyone believed that it was the Romulans scouting Earth for dilithium.  You see, that would be "Silly".  The simplest explanation would be that it was a plane, too far away to hear the engines, reflecting light off its wings and tail as it banked.

Believing that it was 'alien' would be a huge jump, easily every bit as logical as believing we all saw a giant Tinkerbell.

<clapping for Tink, just in case>

  5. have you been to boston... LOL

  6. Hmm, well does it make you laugh or make you rage?  Haha no I understand exactly how you feel.  I haven't really seen so much of that on discovery but I see lots of it on the history channel.  It pisses me off because there are so many people out there who are gullible enough to believe this c**p.  It's just because history channel only has 1 or 2 educational programs and they have to fill the remaining time slots with SOMETHING.  It's just like all those roswell episodes, each time "startling new never-before-seen declassified government documents!!! will the mystery finally be solved?!?" and each time it's the same c**p as last time, and some dude saying "I seen it, it was aliens!" and the government saying, "look, it was a weather balloon" and the history channel ending the show saying "looks like we may never know..."

It's so freaking stupid I'm getting mad just thinking about it.

  7. Have you ever been to L.A.?

  8. It is true that some people found out weird creatures and other rare stuff, but it isn't necessary that its an alien..maybe what they mean by 'alien' is that they found very rare creature..like a mermaid or rare fish..but science does not find real alien yet..or maybe what they saw was Harry Potter on a broom..lol

    Hope my ans helped you...

  9. Because there are far too many people who have seen them and described them completely independently of one another.  A group of elementary school children in Africa had an encounter with them and described them exactly the same as people in the US.  They have been seen by astronauts, airline pilots, policemen, thousands of people in Mexico City and in Phoenix.  US Air Force Officers touched one (ship) in England and examined it for some time.  Betty Hill, who along with her husband Barney were taken aboard a spaceship.  Betty was shown a star map, which she later drew a sketch of.  It was from a perspective never seen by people from Earth.  It was from the Zeta Reticuli system.  It took years to determine where it was from because we don't see it from there.

What people like you assume is that our level of technology is at the top, so if we can't get there, then they can't get here.  I hate to burst your bubble, but the Universe has been here for 13.7 billion years, while our Solar System has only been here for 4.6 billion years.  That means that countless other civilizations may be as much as 9.1 billion years ahead of us technologically.  If we didn't think it was ever going to be possible to get anywhere outside the Solar System, we wouldn't be exploring the Universe and doing research to find means of extrasolar travel.

  10. For the same reason many believe in a supreme being!

    And the son of one!!!

  11. Of course I do. WAYYYY TOO MANY people have seen them or photographed them. Some of us call these people "Kooks", but think about this:

You can call them KOOKS all you want to....but when these "Kooks" show up in the emergency room and other medical research centers claiming that they have Alien Implanted devices inside of them, it's time to sit up start taking these claims SERIOUSLYYYYY.

Since the 1980's HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WORLDWIDE have had electronic "objects" surgically removed from their bodies. Many are implanted in the arm, shoulder or foot. Some of these objects are on display in a museum in California. Some of them have been turned over to government research centers. These objects have been carefully studied under the electron microscope and determines to be transmitter devices which might have the capability to transmit signals so that they can be located by extra-terrestrial life forms. These devices are made using what we know as "nano technology" ...meaning they are MUCH too small to have been produced using present day human technology as we know it. These are transmitters no bigger than the size of a BB or a ladybug. Not suprisingly.....MANYYYY of these same people have reported being abducted numerous times and have had medical "experiments" conducted on them. Numerous women also have microscopic scars on their abdomens and have had eggs removed from them. Numerous men have had sperm samples surgically removed.

You can come up with a hundred LAME EXCUSES for how or why you think this is fake.....but medical researchers and American scientist are baffled.

Crack a book at the library or do a Google search using the words "Alien Implants" if you don't believe me. Then be afraid. Be veryyyyy afraid.

  12. I assume that the idea of the Apollo astronauts lading on the moon is also "just plain crazy". If we are capable of going to the moon, what makes so sure that alien from a more advanced planet haven't visited us and even landed.

Many researcher, including this one, believe that we have been visited by alien in the past and our history have been shaped by their visitation.

Real examples likes the the idea of ancient Egyptian building model of modern day airplanes back in 200BC (on display in the Cairo museum), Nazca lines or Piri Reis map and other can easily be found in number of books.

EDIT: A good example of alien contact is the Dogon people of Africa and their claims of Sirius.

  13. Kay T: you are one of them, too??

    Get a grip!

IF an ancient and much more evolved civilisation exists (and this is very probable), and IF they have managed to overcome the problems of faster-than-light-space-travel, and IF they have discovered us amongst the billions of billions planets in our Universe (which is very unlikely), and IF they were close enough, say 1000 LY away only, they would have seen us as we were 1000 years ago, which is not much.

Now, IF they are advanced and IF they were warriors, how interesting would we be to them?

IF they were peaceful and philosophers, how would we appear to them, 1000 years ago?

    Sorry, no-go!

IF they were explorers (as we are) and IF, by chance, they found and visited us, they would: or conquer us, or contact us.

You will say "They have".  Tell me: why under-cover?  Why do they contact only loonies and gullible people?  Why don't they contact scientists or politicians?

"They probably have,", you would say, "but governments keep that under wrap!".  I like conspiration theories too...

There ARE (I am sure of it) millions of planets that CAN have developed intelligent life-forms.  Many of them may be much more advanced than us.  MAYBE they have solved problems we can't at this present time.

But the chances of them visiting us?

    ZILCH!
