Im getting pissed off about this. There a company. They dont solve your problems. I dont think people understand how they work- to make a profit!!! Both my parents work for American Airlines for over 30 years. Flights were cancelled due to the FAA,not American. With rising oil prices, fares have to rise to make profit( which they still arent doing)And they now cancel flights which the fuel costs more than the fares together, it makes sense. And the planes are fine. does anyone realize that ALL the planes flown by the millitary are roughly 20-3 yrs old??!?!? the V22 first flew in the 80s. And think about driving? itll cost probably double the price. Are people just blaming them because they cant go on there little vaction trip?

  1. People blame the airlines because they don't know who else to blame.  It isn't really the airlines' fault though.  It's how the industry is structured.  After airlines were deregulated in the late 1970's, both consumers and the airlines benefited from the competition in the industry (except the less efficient ones that couldn't keep up).  But since 9-11, our government has been undermining competition in the industry by bailing out the ones that shouldn't be in business in the first place.  This makes it harder for the ones that should be in business to recover their costs, since the industry is characterized by such high fixed costs.  Add to that, rising fuel prices and lower disposable income, and you get an industry that's doomed to failure.  What's the answer?  1) The U.S. government should stop bailing out inefficient airlines and let the market run its course, and 2) More airlines need to merge in order to achieve cost synergies so that they can actually turn a profit.  The industry CAN be saved.  Southwest turned a profit for 35 consecutive years while other airlines were losing money and going bankrupt.

  2. I had a friend who was a steward.  The stories he would tell made me wanna get up and scream!

I can't believe that people act like they don't have to follow any rules because they paid for a ticket.

They treat the workers like they were slaves.  They're rude, obnoxious and feel like they're entitled.

Then, when a steward(ess) has them arrested for their behavior, it's like it's all the airline's fault.

I say the rules aren't strong enough, and the consequences should be much worse.

There is no reason that anyone should act like this when so many lives are at stake.

    There, I vented too!!
