97% of the time the baby will just cry when you put him up there so why do it?

  1. You obviously do not have children or dont believe in christmas.

When your child sits on santas knee and their faces light up because they are with santa their number one favourite person you'll understand why parents take children and babies (babies know who santa is too you know) to see him

    :)

  2. My daughter did not.

We do it because we want to get pictures and memories of the first christmas.   Well the first anything for that matter

  3. Usually its just to get a picture.

Sometimes its just that a parent forgets that their child is too young to care about Santa Claus quite yet.  When they are 4 or 5 and older probably, but when they are infants or 1 or 2 probably not.

My Dad did it one time.  When I was 3 years old, my mother converted to Jehovah's Witness.  They don't believe in celebrating Christmas (its actually the birthday of Saturn, not Jesus--didn't want to celebrate what is essentially a pagan holiday) and so my mother didn't want to tell me Santa Claus was real anymore.

My Dad got very angry over this, insisting that they were taking away one of the rights of childhood and my innocence and such.  But eventually he gave in and they didn't take me to see Santa Claus.  Strangely enough, I didn't care.  I never did, even when I got older.  I never wanted to believe in Santa Claus, nor did I care about the other kids getting to do so.

I'm getting distracted.  The point was, my Dad was so insistent on tradition that he never really put together I was too young to care about the tradition.  Sometimes parents just forget that, and assume it hurts the child emotionally in some way if they don't get to see Santa Claus.

  4. Gah... I have no idea.  Our two year old has never, and will never be 'brought' to Santa, and neither will our next child.

So not everyone does it. LOL, I love the poster who said you obviously don't believe in Christmas!  Is that what Christmas is about?

  5. I will bring my baby, because I think it is a cute tradition to go every year and have the picture. Now let me ask you a question... Why do you care?

  6. I'm thinking you have no kids.  When you do have kids, then ask.

  7. I did it because I wanted the picture.

And my son (almost 2 months at the time) didn't cry, he just sat there and looked at the camera.

  8. Usually for a picture or because it's tradition.

  9. For a Photo with Santa and the Baby

I guess every one does that..

  10. Its kind of like an unsaid tradition it was something their parents did with them, that they want to do with their baby. Besides even when the baby is crying most of the time the picture is still adorable.

  11. Because its cute. my oldest is 9 and she loves the picture of her on Santa's lap screaming LOL

I really did not think she would be afraid of him, its not like I took her thinking it would scare her and doing it anyway.

  12. I do it to get a picture to send to the relatives.  I have no issue whatsoever letting my child sit on Santa's lap, especially now that my son is old enough to know about the Christmas gifting extravaganza.  It is somehting he looks forward to, and I get a lot of enjoyment just seeing him happy and gleeful.  When our next son is born, we will go down to the mall and take a picture of the two boys on Santa's lap to send to our relatives.  I agree with a previous poster, why do you care?

  13. To get a picture to scrapbook! Duh....

  14. at least its not as bad as "bringing" them to the easter bunny

  15. I know, right!  I refuse to force my kids to sit on some dude dressed as santa's lap!  He could be a pervert for all we know!  Gross!  It's just a stupid tradition that people are afraid to let go of...

  16. I took my daughter on her 1st xmas she was only 11wks old but she didnt cry and i have a photo of me and her with santa to add to her memory book...I will take her this yr again..Its a traditon and a one i like so i will take her every year until she no longer wants to go or doesnt believe in santa...I want to make my daughters life as fun as possible ...ppl do have choices u arnt forced to take them to see santa

  17. Not all kids cry and it's one of those things parents do. The Santa pictures are adorable. Didn't your folks ever take you?
