  1. The origin of the name 'Toad-in-the-Hole' is vague. Most suggestions are that the dish's resemblance to a toad sticking its little head out of a hole provide the dish with its somewhat unusual name


  2. Probably the same reason as when you ask for 'spotted d**k' you don't come away with a nasty disease!

  3. Because 'bangers under batter' doesn't sound so appetizing! Another name is 'pigs in a blanket'.
