Question:

Why do people care so much about Budweiser's merger with InBev?

Budweiser will always be an America icon, no matter who currently owns it. The beer is the same, the people are the same, the breweries are the same. It is a company that has the highest quality standards and I truly doubt that anything will change. What else would you drink? Miller? It is owned by a South African company. Coors? It's Canadian (owned by Molson). Belgium is at least known for its great beers. South Africa is known for apartheid and Canada is known for hockey -- no brewing tradition in any of those countries. Sam Adams is now the biggest American owned brewer? They don't even brew their own beer. They contract brew it! Stick with the King...that's what I am going to do!!

  1. Everyone's main concern is that an American Icon will now be Foreign. I agree with you though. Even though InBev is a Belgian company, Budweiser and ALL of AB's products will still be brewed in the US. This will actually help AB dominate the WORLD beer market much like it does the US beer market.

There's still a chance that this thing won't go through. All the stockholders still have to vote on the proposal.

Just remember, InBev is buyin AB, NOT the wholesalers across the US. Which means the ingredients will be American grown, it will be brewed by Americans, delivered to the stores by HARD WORKING AMERICANS, and enjoyed by everyone.

  2. Well AB gives to a lot of local charities in stlouis - most of which rely on AB's support, not to mention they own Grant's Farm - it's just $10 for a vehicle to go in -

And the naming rights to Busch stadium (InBev stadium anyone?)

Do you really think nothing will change?

    Hate the stupid buy-out.

  3. 1. yes its true belgium is know for great beers

    2. problem is the idea an american icon is controlled by foreigners. Generally we never like this idea.

    3. you are wrong about coors btw: its a joint ownership between molson and coors. and now its going to be controlled by SABMIller (new company set up for north american operations a few days before july 4th weekend sabmiller owns 51% of new company)

    4. Many people believe the Belgians will ruin the product and company (many thought they would close the operations in american, instead they decided to give massive layoffs)
