Why do people care so much about celebrities and their lives?

It's not like you're going to be them anytime soon.

Honestly, I think people should mind their own business...why do you care so much about someone's life if you don't even know them...like, why does it matter if someone from a movie is g*y as much as someone on the street?

What really pisses me off about it is that when a celebrity dies, then everyone in America knows about it. It doesn't matter if they died of a meth overdose, most people are going to be all, 'Oh, that's so horrible. She was so young. She wrote a song once. She doesn't deserve to die!', when a collage kid who could have found the cure to cancer dies from being hit by a drunk driver one night. Or a kid in Africa who doesn't even live long enough because they die of AIDS...and when people like Brittany Spears or Joe Jonas, who have absolutely no talent and don't deserve their fame at all, make more than enough money to live on while millions of people are starving and they get new designer clothes every day...

((: okay that's it. I haven't ranted about anything in a while and this always pisses me off.

what do you think about it?

  1. I agree with you completely. I remember when Heath Ledger died, it really wasn't that big of a deal to me and everyone told me I was such a bitchhh.

  2. You are right and it disgust me too. Person worship is the substitute for ones own shortcomings, but they all love to see them come tumbling down and perish if that idol will not answer their inquiry or satisfaction.

    But then there is this....

  3. Gossip is as old as time. Many of us like a giggle and we relate to others.  gossip about celebrities is more fun than gossip about others that you really know.  If you don't like it don't read it.

  4. I think people without money and fame are fascinated by people with it. We made them famous, so we care about what happens to them. I don't believe Britney is completely without talent, but she sure needs help and seems to be getting it. See there, I care.

  5. More interesting than regular people's lives, I suppose.

  6. because the people obsession over celebs have no lives.

they just like to make a huge deal out of everything celebs do.

i like to hear about the nice ones now and again and maybe ask a couple questions a few times a year, but i'm not logging onto Y!A everyday to ask 25 questions about their personal lives.

    it's very annoying

  7. i think that people just have such a curiosity for these people and want to know everything about them because they cant help but want to be like them in someway.

but most of the press these days has been toward how the celebrities have done good things in the world and how they want the news to be on the people in Africa with AIDS or the hungry. Like how the Jonas brothers are donating 10% of their income to charities, being ambassadors for St. Jude, and have their own charity for children, but they aren't the only example, they were just only the ones i could think of at the moment, other celebrities are trying to use their star power to influence other organizations. For example, the Stand Up for Cancer promotion or the Big Give show...and plenty more...

Just because some things aren't said through gossip scoop doesn't mean that people could make a difference about them.

Also, if you cared so much as it looks like it what are you doing to make a difference in the lives of others?
