Question:

Why do people care what would happen after all the humans have disappeared?

If all the humans have disappeared for whatever reason, no one would be left to care. So why care? Pretty worthless information. Why not invest some time wasted thinking about that and think about how we can making better batteries, cleaner / more powerful forms of creating energy, or something equally worthwhile?

  2. I think most people think the human race is indestructable. They are more concerned that their lifestyle will disappear than that the earth may become to toxic to support human life.

  3. We care because if all the humans are gone than there would be no-one left to look after all our achievements in Science,medicine,the arts,etc.We have worked for centuries to get where we are today,we can't let animals take over our legacy.

    At some point they're going to at least think about what would happen if their kind disappeared, and some people take it a step further by caring.

  6. Because we want some future intelligent life form to dig up our relics, put them in a museum, and argue over who looted what precious archeological dig site on earth ... like our garbage landfills.

    The debris left on the moon (that will be there for a billion years) shows space travel using incredibly crude technology ... that included using slide rules for calculation.

    And Yucca Mountain will show we knew how to split the atom and accumulate massive amounts of high-level nuclear waste.

    Makes you feel proud of our civilization!
