Why do people celebrate birthdays and not conception days?

Shouldn't we be entitled to double the parties, presents and cake bi-annually and 9 months apart (on average)?

  1. Do you seriously think that when a couple has s*x...they wait a couple months to see if they're pregnant before they have s*x again?  Conception will most likely NOT be the last time they were together.

Identifying the day of conception will be next to impossible for most people.  It could be guestimated..but nothing more.

You must be an only child...otherwise, I doubt you'd be eager to buy twice as many presents for your own siblings.

  2. I prefer to celebrate birthdays than conception day. Being conceived is not that meaningful if you are flashed out of your mothers womb before the right time.

  3. ya know, the idea of celebrating the day my father ejaculated in my mothers v****a does not sound like sort of thing i would do.  sorry its kinda gross...

  4. It's not that easy to figure out.  My parents had s*x all the time, several times a day even.

Women get pregnant on days 11-14 AFTER the start date of their period.  So would you celebrate for all 4 days or just one of them, taking your pick?  It's simply just easier to celebrate the day you were born.

  5. Actually if you are a normal American family..you are so busy and tired at the end of the day, that it would be relatively easy to figure it out.

Belle, your parents must have been super human..several times a day?! They must have purchased my book!

Yes, I like this idea..where is the petition to sign to have it changed? It's a beautiful thought, to think of your own parents actually doin' the deed and then celebrating and whooping it up on that day (and knowing that however many years ago, they were whooping it up)

  6. Woo hoooo!!

Todays the day my parents did it!!

    Classy huh? lol ; )

  7. Why not, indeed?! Are we even sure that our birthday is correct?? We were in a drunken baby stupor when born and are taking the words of our exhausted, barely verbal mothers, the non-focused, responsibility and monetarily scared fathers, doctors who are getting kickbacks from the aliens (yes the real ones, hullo?!), and the overworked, underpaid nurses who just really would like to go home and play on the internets.

I say, the conception date is just as accurate as our birthdate. They try to make it sound official with a time and what not. Pish-Posh!!

  8. We know when we get born, moms remember those kind of things.

But conceptions are a bit trickier.  Most gestations last nine months.

Some last longer, a few are much shorter.

And then there are test tube babies.

  9. thats kinda stupid.

also, what about those who conceive, but never give birth? if the baby aborts in the womb, or dies in the womb. would they still celebrate that? the baby was never born..

and actually, it is hard to figure out the exact date of conception, genearlly you can pinpoint it maybe to a week or so, but certainly not to the very day, unless of course that really was the last time they had s*x...which usually isnt the case
