... in Bigfoot?

This whole recent Bigfoot scam has got we wondering why/how people can continue to be so gullible? How long have we searched in vain for the hairy beast? Has one "photo" taken ever been crystal clear? Has one "sighting" ever been verified? Will the DNA proof of this s'posed "carcass" of Bigfoot being nothing more than a rubber costume finally quieten the masses ... or, at least, until the next reported "sighting"?

  1. The simple answer is that people WANT to believe.  People of any region like their folklore, and America isn't any different.  It's akin to tradition.  I am willing to bet that most people don't actually believe in Bigfoot, but he/it has become such an American Folklore icon, that they profess they do.  Kind of a little like Santa Claus, or maybe a better example would be Mexico's Chupacabra, or Scotland's Loch Ness Monster.  People like to have a little whimsy in their lives.

As for whether these beasts actually exist is doubtful at best.  However, in their defense, we didn't think that many species existed before we found them---and finding them took hundreds of years up and to the present.  The giant squid was thought to be a myth until the last few years, for example.

Anyway...I think people just like to hold onto their culture, traditions, and folklore.  And sometimes that's cool, (Bigfoot, Nessie, etc.), and sometimes it isn't, especially when one ventures into the poltical arena.

  2. Because the believer's logic is that every myth has its roots stemmed in reality. As if that makes ANY sense at all.

And since it's impossible to prove a negative, we will never succeed in shutting them all up.

Such a sad world we live in.

  3. people who beleive in bigfoot are losers.
