Why do people cover their plants when frost is on the ground, how does this prevent plants from freezing?

  1. Frost kills plants. So the covering protects the frost from forming on the plant. Also, it keeps the plant exposed to warmer temperatures by blocking the cold air from getting to it. If it's a potted plant, you're better off keeping it indoors.


  2. the cover stops the plants from getting frost on them, so they may freeze but it doesnt harm them as much as the direct frost would.

  3. The blanket serves as an insulator.
