  1. In case you hadn't noticed, it makes the car more visible, to improve safety.  This is not as important in the middle of the day, but gets more important in the morning or evening, or if it suddenly gets dark and cloudy.  The idea is that you don't have to remember to turn the lights on to make yourself more visible, because they are always on.

In some places, it's actually the law.

You know why Saabs and Volvos have always had always-on sidelights?  It's because of the long twilights in those northern countries, where low visibility is a problem for more of the day.

  2. Daytime Running Lights, or DRL. It's proven to be safer. Plus, there are some idiot-proof vehicles out there that have headlights that will not go off as long as the engine is running. My stupid Astrovan had this. And like someone else said, it's the law in some backward countries like Canada to drive with your lights on no matter what.

  3. Daytime running lights that automatically turn on day or night when the car is running on most new models.

  4. It's so those other inattentive drivers notice YOU.

  5. they are called daytime running lights, they are for safety

  6. some new cars have daytime running lights that come on automatically.

I drive with my lights on because it makes it easier for you to see my car from a distance.

if you have your windshield wipers on you should have on your headlights on .

ever see a motorcycle with it's lights on in the daytime?

made it easier to see didn't it?
