Why do people drive insane in roundabouts?

Question

Some people just go right through without looking.

Others follow the car in front of them.

Technically for those who don't know, you yield to whoever is in the roundabout.

But I think it would be better and much easier if people just treat a roundabout as a right turn. If someone is coming through, u dont go. If its free, you go.

There no more confusion.

(I'm a little paranoid because I got a roundabout right by my house.)

I have almost got hit a couple times.

I hope this post saves some car insurance money.

I think it's because in the US people aren't used to them. There aren't very many, and typically they're small. We have one near my house, too, and people always stop, or worse, like you said, just speed through. In Europe, roundabouts are very common, and huge! I went on a tour and all these people on the tour (americans) were confused because they'd never encountered them before. I think that if they've never seen one then most people just go for it. And yes, it IS quite scary.

Here in Summerlin(Las Vegas) I have two of them right by my house from the freeway,and it drives me crazy because there are 3 lanes,the very right one makes you turn right(its protected by a divider) the middle one is for moving straight across,and the inner lane is for going round a bout into making a left.So many times driving in the left turn(inner lane) Ive had people cross my T and once had a guy hit my car)he brushed against me.It drives me nuts that people do that and that people dont look at the signs before the round-a-bouts to see how your supposed to drive through them.I think they ought to be outlawed completly,as most drivers are idiots.

here in the uk we have had them for years and years and still most people dont have a clue as how to use one....its not flippin hard to figure out u give way to the right and cars already on the roundabout have priority...but so many people cant grasp that concept
