Why do people enjoy anime?

I'm not being a wise guy, I really am curious as to what the appeal is. I have a friend who is knee deep in anime books, even daydreams about anime girls, and I think it's strange. He can't seem to explain what his obsession over it is. So, why are you into it?

I LOVE anime... for cuteness, comedy, and the awesome fashions! Now, the only time I've got my head in a manga book is usually once a week. But, to me, anime is so much better than cartoons these days! I remember when my best friend and I were having a sleepover, and we watched anime previews and laughed our heads off!

One day I was talking to this girl, and she said all anime was the SAME and that it SUCKED. PEOPLE WHO SAY THIS WATCH POKEMON AND STUPID CARTOON NETWORK STUFF. Well, actually, I can't exactly prove that, but the only anime she's watched is pretty much pokemon. Not that pokemon's bad. It's alright. BUT PEOPLE!!! FIND YOURSELF AN ANIME SHOW INCLUDING SOMETHING YOU THINK IS INTERSETING.

And... advice for your friend: It's better loving someone in real life who loves you, rather than falling in love with fantasy characters that will never exist for you to kiss or hug or love you at all.
