Do u think men and women or people with the same job, experience, skill, and degree should be payed the same even if one works harder ? B 4 u get crazy on me, I mean for example I work my *** off at work and the people I work wit are dont work nearly as hard. We both have the same qualifications, should they get paid the same as me? I say no ,but they do and it frustrates me. Why isnt work ethic not in thee equation for wages ? Why do people especially us women think everybody regardless of on the job effort should payed the same ? Why do people think getting a degree should cover up there unwillingness 2 work hard on the job and make what other hard worker in there group are making?

  1. equal work = equal pay

not equal work = not equal pay.

  2. I agree but it shouldn't necessarily be who works the hardest but who is more efficient. Hard work doesn't count unless you get the desired results. Efficiency should determine pay.

  3. I say no.

That's communism, that's why people say that feminism=communism

Unfortunately, in the unindustrialized world, and to make things fair, people have to be payed for what they do, not for what they should be or who they are.

Also, if people started to approve this, the employers would be FORCED to maintain inhuman control on the workers, else, they would do nothing, since they know that they get the same paid.

Being a doctor DOES NOT EARN YOU MONEY, what makes doctors earn money is how many surgeries they do.

So, the doctors in a hospital would be supervised as h**l, liberty would be sorta gone.

People should try to stop being jealous at those who work extra...

    You get what you give!

Want more money? Work more....hard, but it's the only fair way.

  4. That's what bonuses, raises and promotions are for. Just keep on doing what you're doing, one way or another your effort should be recognized eventually-assuming you have a fair boss.

  5. copy & paste from my previous answer:

I don't believe income disparities have anything to do with gender as compared to time spent in the work force, and time taken off to raise children... typically between the ages of 25-35.

    Poof.

Equal opportunity does not mean equal outcome

whoever puts in overtime gets paid more. Then they probably end up with the promotion and a higher pay bracket. Woo hoo.

  6. Well, wage disparity based on gender/race/whatever is wrong.

If you work harder, you should get paid more, even if you are a white male. It's that simple. However, that's not always how it works out...

  7. I really hate being lumped into the "us women category." You don't know me or how I think so state your own opinion, no mine please.

Yes if someone works harder they can ask for a raise and might even get it. That's how the world works dear.

  8. Often Seniority is who has been thee the longest, has the most education, and is most valuable to the company-in my opinion that is how their "wage" should be set!!!

  9. That would be more a socialist ideology, I'm a liberal so it's survival of the fittest all the way for me, baby!  :-)

  10. NO

equal pay for equal work is not based on job effort-it assumes all things equal-experience, education, effort, results. given those, pay should also be equal and in most cases it is not. that's a fact.

it may take a while, but my theory is that eventually you will be rewarded, but this assumes a decent boss that recognizes your skill and committment. if he/she doesn't, start looking- go somewhere where the effort is appreciated. you'll not only make more money but will be a lot happier, too.

  11. Erm they don't....the whole thing is that they have to have the SAME skills, effort etc.

  12. If you do the exact same job as someone else and get the work done on time, then I don't see why you shouldn't have the same amount of pay from your boss.

If someone works harder shouldn't they be given a raise or a bonus?

Don't worry I won't get all crazy on you, if I have then sorry.

  13. I think you should both be hired on at the same wage, but you should definately be given a higher bonus or raise than the others.

  14. We have a saying in the Navy that goes "Work smarter, not harder". You can work hard; busting your butt at everything you do while pulling the weight of many others, and still not be recognized for your efforts. You can be the "work horse" of your work center, and the outcome or your hard work is less that satisfactory or "acceptable".

But busting your butt and pulling the work load of others doesn’t' mean that you should atomically receive higher pay. For some supervisors this just means that you didn't do your job right the first time. This is the reason why you have to work 10 times harder than everyone else to correct the mistakes that you should have caught in the first place while “Working in circles” is what I used to hear it called. Constantly checking  your work and catching the small details that you missed.

Because I used to think just like you. I would get mad when I was bustin hump, moving equipment and spending long hours writing reports. But it wasn't until my work center sup told me that

"The reason why you work so hard is because

    1. You want do everything yourself, in an effort to prove to everyone that you know your job and no one else does

    2. You make the same mistakes over and over again, because you're too proud to ask for help in the first place.

    3. And no one wants’ to work with you, for the simple fact that you feel you have something to prove, while making the same mistakes twice (in some cases three times). "

Once I got off my "high horse" and asked for assistance, I found that the many long hours I spent on reports could have been reduced down to 20 mins (because there was a pre-formatted header for the reports already drafted), the heavy equipment that I was moving on my own could have been moved with the help of a dolly that my work center sup had access too, and I would have  had the assistance I needed, but my co-workers found out I was talking $h!t about them behind their backs and decided to let me learn the hard way.

All of that trouble and heart ache THAT I PUT MYSELF THROUGH would have been levitated had I just sat down with everyone and opened up a line of communications. Asking for help, telling everyone how I felt about the circumstances and trying to give examples of how we as a team could work together to get the work done. Once I did that, I received my increase in pay when I was advanced too the next rank.

The moral of the story is there is nothing wrong with working hard and seeking to be rewarded for it. But don’t not get beside yourself, thinking that the work you do is more important or more deserving than the people you work with. If these people have the same qualifications as yourself, speak with them, see if they’re willing to assist you with your every day task.  Find out first if they where not side-tracked with a different task other then what you was instructed to do (this could be a reason for  them not assisting you either). Your co-workers could be doing you the same way my co-workers did me. Sitting back watching you break my back and listening to you complain about things that could have been solved had you just asked them for their assistance. And it could be your attitude towards them that is keeping them from stepping in and giving you a hand. At times, our pride can be our own worst enemy.
