Why do people even consider liking Jacob when he is such a jerk?

In the first book, everybody liked Edward, that's understandable. But in the second one, they all liked Jacob. Why?

I didn't like how he was all aggressive and forceful with her, it seemed sort of like sexual assault. But I think some people thought that was sorta hot. Also, he was so relatable before he got all horny and in love with Bella. He was a cute boy-next door kind of guy, that really was a great friend to Bella, adventurous, and a fun person to hang out with. Who doesn't want a boyfriend like that? (human-wise). But I agree, I didn't like him after he started forcing himself on her. I started feeling sorrier for him in Eclipse though. Although I would never want Bella to end up with him.

it's not that i dont like jacob, i just like edward better. but jacob does get on my nerves when he's such a jerk towards edward. oh and how he hits on bella in front of edward gets on my nerves... like shes going out with edward, leave her alone already! lol

I like Jacob because when she is around Edward it's like he's her whole life. And yeah some people probably think that's romantic but it's kind of unhealthy. Plus, if Bella choose Jacob she won't have to give anything up. She could still see Charlie and Renee, have children, the complete package. Plus I just like the wolves more then vampires.

They like Jacob because we are limited to Bella's feelings and point of view. He made Bella feel better in New Moon, even if he was a jerk in some parts. Bella is very clingy and needs a man to make her whole. Jacob was that man for 70% of New Moon. Some people had residual feelings of clinginess toward him in later books. That's it.

Yeah, I know. I didn't like him very much after he started being a pervish weirdo. He was very pushy, negative and jerkish after a while and got on my nerves. I was constantly thinking "Okay, when's Edward coming back so we can get rid of this dude?"

Edit: Aly, he DID break into Bella's house at night, hahaha. Though, he woke her up. Good point.

I think it's because Jacob helped Bella mentally get through her time without Edward in her life, which made it all more the difficult to read, and we appreciate all that he did for her.  Plus I think Jacob had his moments when he could be funny, thoughtful and a good friend through and through.  He cared for Bella, when our vampire Edward was there.  I think the reason he was acting like a jerk was because Edward was back and Bella was in love with him and planning to join the vampires; how would you feel if your best friend would become your rival's lover and your worst enemy?; you'd be pretty torn, huh?

yeah, I know, a guy that read the twighlight series, but the reason is that he isn't as strict as edward and lets her do whatever she wants!

Well i am personally a "team edward" person but jacob isnt a jerk.

in new moon, he was actually a really great guy because he was trying to make bella feel better and comfort her. but then i understand why he was such a jerk after edward came back because he saw how bad that edward hurt bella and was mad that she just let him back into her life as if he had never hurt her. dont get me wrong, i love that she let him back into her life, because i love him! hah.

but im just saying, i see why he acts like he does.

and then obviously, Vampires and werewolves are natural enemies!

but then in eclipse he was kinda mean because he was still mad that bella let edward into her life again and jacob knows that he is in love wiht her and knows shes in love with him too but she doesnt know it.

but then in Breaking Dawn he eases up a bit and then imprints (not trying to give away spoilers) and then he doesnt really care anymore and is just happy for bella and everything.

also, in eclipse he got mad when he found out that bella was marrying edward and becoming a vampire because him and Edward werent friends at all and he wanted to be with Bella.

and then in Breaking Dawn he got kinda jerky toward edward when he found out that bella was having renesmee and stuff when she was still human.

sooo thats why.

oh and edward wasnt really in New Moon all the time and everyone was just happy that Jake was there to help bella threw everything.
