Why do people feel Mayweather is afraid of Cotto?

Why should the best P4P boxer have to call out opponents when hes on top. Cotto is not the WBC champ. Mayweather has fufilled his legacy. Cotto has something to prove not mayweather. Have you heard Cotto call out Mayweather. NO NO NO. did you watch the gomez fight did you here what Emanual Stewart said in order for cotto to get a fight with mayweather hes going to have to call him out and talk a little c**p he cant let Arum do it for him. People say mayweather is afraid of Cotto.. When Hatton talked c**p about mayweather at the castillo fight what happen. when has cotto called out mayweather? THANK YOU NEVER. But what people fail to realize is that Mayweather has said enough for Cotto to be upset. mayweather said Zab had been off a year and still busted up cotto. if some one felt this way about you wouldnt you say something.

cotto is at the peak of his career right now and mayweathers in my opinion is breaking down...if they fight and cotto wins i don't think mayweather has the time to recover and come after him at a high level of fighting...so that night be the thing that's delaying this fight...besides, cotto has to beat Margarito and that wont be a easy fight....

Cotto also told the meedia that floyd avoids the best fighters and doest see why the media and fans support that. Hows it going Mayweather fan No1 havent seen you for a while. I agree with you in one way, i was another of the people who was watching when the question was put to Cotto and he skirted round the question like a politician and basically said its up to my promoter, im not sure whether its down to Cotto or Mayweather that the biggest fight in boxing isnt being made but i too think its ridiculous, how long are we going to have to wait for this match up.

Mayweather is not afraid of Cotto- he is waiting for the opportune moment to fight him.  The people that say he is afraid are the ones who don't like him (the haters) and they want to see him lose because he runs his mouth off; but they forget that he can do that because he's at the top right now- he's paid the cost to be the boss, and he's the welterweight champion and the best pound for pound fighter for a reason.  Floyd is not just an excellent fighter, he is also an excellent businessman, and he knows that if he waits a while longer for the fight, it will be all that much bigger financially, and it will be all that much more winnable for him.  If Cotto really wanted the Mayweather fight, he would learn about how Floyd got the De La Hoya fight.  Before Mayweather fought Oscar, he was promoted by Bob Arum, and Floyd was smart enough to realize that at that time, Oscar and Arum did not get along.  So what did Floyd do?  He did what anyone would in order to get the richest fight of all time- he distanced himself from Arum, and as a result, he got the De La Hoya fight.  Cotto can't rely on Arum for a Mayweather fight, because now, it is Floyd who doesn't get along with Arum.  I'm not saying that Cotto has to leave Top Rank, but he should try to distance himself a little by calling out Floyd instead of letting Arum say the usual "Floyd will never fight someone he can lose to."  The funny thing is that when Arum was promoting Floyd, I remember him saying that Mayweather was the closest thing to Muhammad Ali that he had seen inside the ring.  The bottom line is that if Cotto really wants the fight, he needs to do more than just let Arum throw meaningless shots at Floyd.

Talk is cheap, it's not often a boxer comes along who can let his fists do the talking, but Cotto is one.  I think Floyd has avoided the best welterweights because he cannot dominate the 147 lb. division like he did the lower weights.  Floyd might still beat Cotto, but it won't be easy, and Floyd won't be so pretty at the end of it.  The minute you react to someones verbal taunts, you give them an extra advantage over you.  Cotto's lack of acknowledgment of Floyd is a psychological barb fired back at Mayweather's arrogance.  I think it is calculated, and smart on Cotto's part.

I love Cotto. He is a machine that goes to the body like nobody I have ever seen.  He will chase Mayweather down and slow him down with body shots for sure.  Cotto also leaves his chin open sometimes and Mayweather is a very hard puncher.  Cotto could get knocked out.  This one is too close to call.  I don't think Mayweather is afraid but I know he respects Cotto.

thank you,thaANk YOu, THANK YOU,  I have been saying this for months, Mayweather is still the number one boxer in the world and as such he should not have to call out opponents , his opponents should come to him, Arum knows that Mayweather has the tools and the experience to beat cotto and that's why he is protecting his champion, Cotto struggled against a washed up Judah, a fighter that Mayweather completely dominated.....If he wants to fight Mayweather all he has to do is SAY IT talk some trash and I can guarantee you the fight will happen, all he has done is let Arum do the talking and Arum has not even had the courage to call mayweather out by name, in cotto's last fight he talked trash but never called mayweather out by name....wow so much courage, i am sick of these fan boys jumping on the cotto bandwagon, if mayweather beats him tommorrow you will see all these guys run their mouths and make up some S****y excuse like "oh cotto was too young" or "cotto should have won the fight....he was robbed" just like they did with Hatton, de la hoya and Castillo,don't worry about them mate, i have afeeling this fight will happen and by then, the fists will really do all the talking.

zab busted up cotto but cotto destroyed zab. what did floyd do to zab?zab actaully knock down floyd but the ref didnt count it as a knock down even thoug floyd touch the canvas.

if floyd fights somebody else besides cotto after he beats oscar  then you know his ducking him. cause aint nobody out their thats gonna make him more money then what cotto will bring.

i think you cant despute the fact that mayweatther is the best boxer on the planet at the moment but saying that i do like cotto's  fighting style more and to say that mayweather has fought a load of bums is just absurd he has fought real tough fighters i dont think i have to name them.i agree with frank d this fight should happen now(not in about 6 years) so there can be no excuses( like the b-hop v calzaghe fight) i dot think cotto will call out mayweather its not in his personality,thats not the way he does things,like calzaghe he is no good at the trash talk he does it inside the ring with his hands

Sadly people want to put Floyd down for his personality(which is a front to sell tickets because he is actually a nice guy) rather than see his amazing skills. He had to call out people throughout his career and has reached a point where he doesnt have to do it anymore. Floyd is just waiting for the fight to build up and make it a MEGAFIGHT instead of a superfight today. What people dont realize is that Cotto NEVER has called him out neither and Arum hasnt even made Floyd an offer but as time goes by the fight will be inevitable. I am a huge fan of both and would love to see this fight but lets just be patient because im sure the fight will happen next year.
