Why do people feel they need the government to bailed them out of a foreclosure?

I have never lived beyond my means. I pay my bills on time including my mortgage. I have 3 neighbors who let their house go into foreclosure and yet they all drive the newest cars and have toys like boats and jet ski's. And by the way they just got back from vacation in Hawaii. I think the government should reward homeowners who pay their taxes and mortgages on time. And don't try to tell me these people were conned by loan companies. They knew exactly what they were getting into.

  1. Because ever since FDR we have sent the message that the government is supposed to care for the people instead of people caring for themselves. People decide to get an adjustable rate mortgage and when it goes up. they decide not to pay. They knew it could happen. They could have refinanced but instead the one percent who are in foreclosure choose to wait for the taxpayers responsible for them. There are very few govts in this world that would punish the responsible and successful like the great US.

  2. When banks WOULDN'T loan money to risky low income people, it was called DISCRIMINATORY.

When banks DID loan money to risky low income people, it was called PREDATORY.

    Go figure.

You are correct.  The government should NOT be involved with this at all.

  3. There are a lot of people that make poor financial decisions and there are others that just find it hard to survive with living costs rising.  My husband and I had a mortgage and vehicle loans and were able to pay all our bills, however it became more difficult when gas prices soared.  We had to make choices and downsize in order to survive.  I don't think the gov't should bail people out but if the citizens are not prospering they aren't really contributing to there country either.  You know the saying..only as strong as the weakest link....  Perhaps educating people is the best help they can give.

  4. i agree. There are too many people taking advantage of the government and being rewarded for it with the tax money provided by good citizens like you and me.

  5. It seems that many people do not want to take responsibility for their actions/decisions these days.  Neither do they want to budget to live within their means.  These are the same people who save nothing, yet complain that their Social Security doesn't meet their needs.
