  1. To be accepted by society people have to follow the norm.  When you step outside of the mainstream you are considered "different" no matter how right you are.

Thats why when someone starts a movement people are against him, until enough people start do it his way and "it becomes the norm".

  2. This is my favourite Mark Twain quote. He grew up during the Civil War and he hated slavery. He said, "Loyalty to petrified opinion never broke a chain or freed a human soul."

  3. If the action considered is the norm, why is it wrong?  In the given space and time, society deems the action right, so your question is moot.

  4. It's a lot easier to go with the crowd then against it. Like it's easier to not do something then to do something. Personally i'll never do something just to "fit in".

  5. You have to follow the norms in order not to be labeled a deviant, since deviance has a negative connotation. If you want to fit in then you comply, many people have done this throughout history you just have to research it.

  6. fear. plain ol fear.

  7. One possible reason may be that a lot of people's morals are influenced, if not determined, by social norms.

  8. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down - Japanese proverb.

  9. followers like lil worker bees

  10. Its called "trying to fit in". People tend to do what other people do, and that is normal. We have this topic in psychology about this... try to do some research...

Personally we do bad things and even though we know that they are bad, still we do them... because it feels good!

  11. survival technique. its a chosen way of life.

we need society, we support society and society support us.

Its much more easier to live when theres help around. its a pleasurable way of living

  12. If I thought something was wrong I would not do it. So I guess I would be a non-conformist. I listen to the voice inside of me and live by it. I tend to do what I want not what someone wants me to do. If you want factual information look it up on the Internet. It is out there. Look for Wikipedia.
