Why do people from the mid west always win the big power ball jackpots that area has the lowest population?

I think the Power Ball Lottery needs to be investigated for fraud

  1.  How does population of a state have nothing to do with it? I agree that people anywhere have an equal opportunity to win, however, the problem that I see is that you would think in regions with higher populations you have people buying more tickets. Therefore, those people in those regions have a greater probability of winning. 


    Obviously, a person who buys more tickets than a person who buys fewer tickets should have a greater chance of winning, based upon the added probabilities of each group of numbers/tickets. Applying that logic to population, an area with more people, and therefore more ticket buyers - should have more or the most Powerball winners states like - states like New Jersey, New York, and California. 


    Certain states should rarely, if ever, have a Powerball win - states like Wyoming or North Dakota. New Jersey - has yet to win a powerball. 


     


    Powerball defies the laws of probability.
