Why do people get DUIs?

how they can be so stupid to drink and drive?

first of all, cuz they are drunk: which means that their limits change. so they might think they can drive.

Also, alot of people think that one drink cant affect your driving at all. which is false, but they wont admit it.

it's "superman" syndrome! sometimes alcohol makes you think you can do anything, even drive properly!

what i really don't get is the people who get more than 1. how did you not learn your lesson?

Because when your that drunk, sometimes you think you can drive. Alchohol messes with judgement for alot of people --- and judgement is what you use to determine between a bad desicion and a good one.

Since 2002 it has been illegal in all 50 US states to drive with a BAC that is 0.08% or higher. That could be as little as 2 average strength drinks. Most people feel fine and think that their judgements are not impaired after just 2 drinks so they get a "false sense of security." Then they drive! Just think of how many are driving legally drunk and get away with it. That means that at any time, on the road, we are all passing up drunk drivers all the time. Some countries have a zero tolerance for any amount of drinking and driving. This type of law has proven to limit drunk drivers considerably and possibly more countries should consider adopting these type of laws. It's something to consider, particularly in areas where drinking and driving seems to be a problem. Another possible consideration for the safety of all is to use a blood alcohol content calculator to get an estimate of one's blood alcohol level prior to driving. Maybe, it should be an available option, while purchasing a new car, installed right into the car itself. Now I like that idea especially if it may help save lives.

Alcohol makes people do stupid things.  It's always best to designate a driver before you go out drinking/partying.  But, some people don't even think about that or they just HAVE to have their car with them.

Fortunately, I love my little green Honda too much to let anything happen to it, so I either sober up or ride home with a friend.

Most people who drink and drive THINK they are OK.  They do not realize how impaired they are.  That's why it's good to PLAN AHEAD and designate a "designated driver" who does not drink.  That way, there is always someone completely sober.

You drink a little more, next thing you know your reflexes and your correct thinking are clouded

You get in your car assuming you're ok to drive and the blue light magically appears in your rear view mirror

becoz they go out sober driving and end up drunk on their way home ,with a car and what they gonna do ,they drive it under the influence ,add to it driving drunk home is better than walking drunk home if u get the point ,what u got to question is a mind ?which once under the influence is gone......
