Why do people get angry when you bring up Global Warming?

People that dont believe in it and think its a hoax and have all this crackpot science to prove it doesnt exist get so angry when you say you believe in it. Whats wrong with caring about the environment? You'd think that bigoted tree-hugger stereotype for anyone who believes in the environment wouldn't exist anymore? Why do they refuse to even begin to question that it "might" exist. Most of these people flat out reject it without even thinking or give you these facts that r mind numbing. Even if we "might" have something to do with it whats wrong with believing in it? I cant believe its considered a bad thing by some people to care about the environment.

You ask what is wrong to believe in it even if it does not exist. Because this is a scam designed to get people to accept higher taxes and give more government control to the US government and even the UN. The high gas prices we face now are related to these environmental extremists. The Democrats influenced by these people will not let us drill for oil in our own country, build nuclear power plants or increase refining capacity. Al Gore wants a carbon tax on top of everything else. This scam is not harmless it will cause a lot of hardship for people, especially low income Americans.

There is no scientific proof there is “man made” global warming.  None.  Environmental-Wackos use global warming as a religion not the other way around.  They reject advances in technology and would rather we live in mud huts riding a horse to work.  Some environmentalists say its exhaling humans that are causing the rise in CO2 levels. Crazy talk.

There is nothing wrong with caring for the environment, but you can’t disrupt our lives and world economies to do it if there are no facts about it.  Some are so brain washed that cold hard facts can’t convince them otherwise.  Don’t take my word about it.  32,000 scientists this month have come out stating it doesn’t exist.

It is a hoax and has little or nothing to do with the environment.

Notice how all the big names in the "green" movement seem to not care how they treat the environment, they care how others treat the environment, a pure power play.If they really thought everything they preached was true, then they would not fly in private planes and own large mansions.

Also, if it were for the environment, they would immediately reverse their opinion of biofuels. Biofuels have caused huge damage to the environment and food prices in recent months. If it were just for the environment, then these bad policies woulod already be thrown out.

To discuss so called "global warming" is like discussing religion.  Since "global warming" requires people to believe its happening rather than objective scientific facts every one is going to believe differently according to their own point of views.

Remember - no one argues about what the speed of light is, as that is real science.

they want to feel safe and secure, so they reject truth and believe in what they want to believe in order to keep from going insane or depressed.

People should be more rational and try to stop the problems of global warming instead of hiding from them and denying their existence.

There are 9 answers and some are close to the point but not on. First, most people do not remember the weather in the 50's, 60's,  70's.  Simply put, weather records are not mentioned(except for a 5 second piece about the record temp), and on the current weather - one wonders how it interferes with their plans.  It cost money to heat.  etc.  Just go to an nursing home and speak to the people and listen.

Second, Again it is theory that we can do nothing.  News usually treats the subject lightly, a 15 to 30 second segment.

Third, it as you mentioned in your question, it is mind numbing for it one more think to deal with. But then most people have not ridden a horse in the mountains or plains.  They have not seen except for pictures being on a computer.

Four, There are ranchers who worry about water, grass and trees.  There are a few government agency planting trees.  But the average man or woman, they have a full plate and environment is just one more item.

Its so up in our face's at the moment that people are a bit like( What can we do and where do we start?) were a bit worry ed what will happen if we do nothing. the government don't seem to care and the people do and it looks like the public are just doing it for ourselves witch makes me think what to do with out government.

Because it's false and based on junk science.  It is nothing more than excuse to raise taxes to an oppressive level and no one really knows what to call it.  I've seen everything from rain in December blamed on "global cooling" and the January Thaw we get every year on "Global Warming" and a sunny day with rain in February-- that's called "climate change."  Pay Al Gore now.  

It's kind of suspicious when most politicians and Hollywood go around telling us what to do and how to live when they don't come close to practicing what they preach.

Take the issue of "carbon taxes."  These will go towards Al Gore and private companies.  And then there's the exposure that Mr. Gore lifted footage from another movie to make his commercial for getting rich, "An Inconvenient Li-uh, Truth"  

Mr. Gore will not debate or back up his claims, he simply does what everyone else does, calls people names and shuts down the discussion.   Junk science prevails however and it will solve nothing.  Too much money and energy is going to be wasted on this nonsense.  And when it blows over, I shudder to think what the next non-event will be manufactured.

theres nothing wrong with you "believing" in something like the little people (elves & fairies) or ghosts or that the world is only 6000 years old.

just dont try to get other people to change their way of life or wipe out 100 years of progress & modern civilization based only on YOUR belief's.

science requires no belief's. the hard evidence speaks for its self.

for example the average temperature of the earth last year was 54.2 degrees. if global warming is true then the temperature from 10 years ago will be colder than that & the temperature 10 years in the future will be warmer than that.

if thats actually the case no one can argue with that fact & no belief is necessary.

the only arguement will be whether its good or bad & should we change it or let it progress naturally.

People get angry because they do not want to believe in global warning But the fact is there is neither a standard scientific method which is mutually and globally accepted nor any global authority to decide whether any particular effect on a particular location is caused by global warming and not by any other factor.It would be a better and practical idea if the local weather

can be correctly and accurately predicted well in advance .(few months? ,few years -- if global warming is accurately understood.)
