  1. Personally, I don't like the idea of making an excuse to be able to call anyone any kind of name other than their given name.  There's just no good reason to use a racial or other type of slur or epithet.  Those who do so are not ever going to be able to rise above their troubles.  They will be doomed to perpetuate a cycle of violence and hatred.  We must ALL join together and support the cause of true racial equlity!  We must respect each other as human beings, rather than respecting the names on our clothing, or the cars we drive, or the $$ in our wallets.

(I'll step down from my soap box now and tip toe quietly away. . .)

  2. cracker isn't really even offensive

it means someone who cracks da whip

    a slave owner

i rather be called a cracker then then n word.

it's a big deal if you say the n word because the word has a history of hatred. but still, no racist slur should be acceptable, no matter what race.

  3. whites were always high class. british went exploring the world and whites discriminated many people, especially in africa. brits created usa and whites used africans as slaves. countries like tahiti and belize were created by slaves.

whites didnt face that much slavery and racial discrimination. only whites forbade interracial marriages. others didnt discriminate cause of colour, while they did discriminate cause of social status (caste system in india).

its like pakistani can call each other p**i, while its wrong for anyone else to say p**i. I guess its fine to say it in a funny way among each other.

  4. First of all, I don't believe that anyone should be using racial slurs.

To answer your question, it's because whites are the majority and in a way they rule the world.  No matter how annoying racial slurs are, it just wouldn't be right for whites to complain about them.

  5. There is no excuse for the double standard. NONE.

If black folks want to call themselves the N word then they must not have enough self respect, so why should I respect them.

Respect is a two way street,  come in with Ebonics, slang or ghetto talk and want to know why people use it back at you???

I don't use the N word, I don't like it. But I had to deal with my family being called scalpers, injins, and such so I don't use it but even hearing people of the slur use it on each other makes me cringe.

And for those quoting slavery. Get over it. Your own tribes sold people to be slaves here. The when Blacks were freed they tried to make Natives their slaves.... It happened in the PAST!!! It is over, move on and focus on the future and  make a change.

  6. Everyone knows about this and it is not fair.  The reason nothing is done about it is because everyone is afraid of being called a racist.  It will stay that way unless we fight back and stop caring so much about being PC.

  7. I think there is still a backlash going on because black people were once slaves.  It seems to me like most other races get along just fine with white people.  Black people would be a lot better off if they just got over it.  It isn't like any of them were actually slaves, and none of the current white people have ever had slaves.  You can't continue to punish people because of something their ancestors did.  For now, most white people put up with retaliation from black people because of the past, but I do think that eventually, it is going to get old.  I hope that black people can learn to eventually just let it go because as long as they continue to be bitter and feel racism towards whites, they  continue to cause problems for themselves.

  8. All racial slurs are bad. But ask yourself which group black are white has had the most experience with racism. Who was once enslaved, whipped and called the N word, denied entrance to places, forced to drink out a water fountain called coloreds. Black people have being on the other end of racism way longer and stronger than whites. Even though it was long time ago.

I understand where coming from because if being called a cracker hurts imagine being called an N by the people who used it on your ancestors. Next time a black person uses a slur on you remind them of the past. ITs NOT good to promote racism on any group. Sorry for your experience.

  9. cracker is less emotionally hurting than the word n/i/g/g/e/r mokey, or ape, coon,

  10. There is no good reason for it other than the fact that white people are afraid to stand up against this abuse. I have done so and lost a job because of it. It is not fair and like I told some black people you call me names that gives me the right to call you names and I don't give a d**n if u find it offensive. The just want something to cry about and it will get worse. What makes me mad is when you see these white women trying to act like they are black I just want to slap their heads off

  11. because it's the white people who started racism.

Evil L shut up,before ,I, slap your head off.

  12. because whites didnt get stripped from their families in africa, brought to america on ships where their family member died, and then finally arrived to america where they spent hundreds of years working for you, and fighting for freedom, thats one reason. need more?

i betcha everyone who gave me a thumbs down was white! hahaha.

  13. The n word is a very nasty word.Cracker doesn't compare to that word.

  14. Guess it's all in how you were brought up. I'm talking in both races. Until we have a successful Black President, we will never break the cycle of ignorance.

  15. Anyone who are racist, white or black should be prosecuted to the letter of the law but sadly this is not the case, this is probably because most racial crimes are not reported. I'm quite sure if a coloured person called you a racial name and you complained the police would take the matter seriously.

  16. It is more an issue of power politics than anything else at this point. Whites being the majority still hold a level of power that minorities can only dream to attain. The epithets used to describe blacks are remnants of an oppressive system that held an entire race back from equality for four hundred years (technically until the Civil Rights Act was passed) and while the term 'cracker' may offend you, there are no inherent power issues ascribed to it. The term 'n*gger' was meant to dehumanize people that were already being held in subhuman conditions, a people who are still discriminated against in law, as well as in action.

  17. Same reason it's not a hate crime if a bunch of black guys beat the snot out of a white guy.  Racism apparently only works one way.

And then, some moron like Soothsayer throws the slavery issue in your face.  B.S.!  No one you ever knew was a slave, and no one I ever know held slaves.  Get out of my face with the ancient history and get over it!

  18. You look cute when you're whining.

drop me an email, obviously your boy friend is just frustrating you.

  19. I spend a lot of time on the net and I don't remember one time when a black person used the word cracker in a derogatory way towards white people.  I have seen many whites use racial slurs towards blacks.  In fact I just reported a question on here just 30 minutes ago. You call me the N word and you're calling me stupid and ignorant.  I call you a cracker and I'm calling you a snack food???  There's no comparison.

But the bottom line is people shouldn't be using them at all.  It would be nice if we could have an open honest discussion about racism and then maybe we could move forward.

Personally, I don't allow anyone to call me the N word, black or white, regardless of their intent.  Unless it was a close friend and for some stupid reason we were just joking like that.  A stranger calling me that....not gonna happen.  Sir, my brother (black or white) Old school, big fella, all don't bother me.  Technically the N word doesn't bother me because I know it doesn't apply to me, however I don't want anyone else to think it may apply, so I don't condone it at all.
