Why do people get pregnant when they obviously cannot afford them?

My aunt is a licensed social worker, the other day, I went to her office to visit. I saw this lady (obviously in her very very early 20s) who is VERY pregnant, and she already had 3 children. She was there to ask questions about welfare and medical assistance.

My question is: Why do people get pregnant over and over again, when they obviously couldn't afford them?

Mostly, it's because they were too impulsive to use a condom or other form of contraception.  On top of that, many of these people don't believe in abortion or want to give their babies up for adoption.  I feel sorry for children who are forced to live with these incompetent parents.

I ASK THAT TO MYSELF EVERY TIME I SEE A YOUNG GIRL PREGNANT...please I'm not judging in anyway because I am 23 years old and a lot of my friends are parents already by the age of 16 and above. I still can't see how people don't use a condoms or even a contraceptive. I don't want to hear you can't afford it because planned parenthood gives out free condoms and reduces the price by half for BC especially if you prove your in school it's $10-$15 for a pack of BC yet they can spend it on some shirt that cost $50 cause that's more important. Some take advantage of the system too and the sad thing is I see some girls and I said SOME who wear better clothing then their own children and why?? Because they are caking it BIG TIME especially if they don't have the father on the side helping them or their ripping the fathers off for child support that doesn't even match the income of the baby's father and those usually happen to the fathers that want to be fathers. Some got married at a young age and had a family along with it or some, well let's face it, we're tramping around cause funny how all three or five children have different last names (trust me I know a few). Times now are so crazy and to bring a child into this world with no financial security is scary and sad! But one thing I do have to say is for those who are busting their *** like some of my friends that don't use the system or misuse the system, I give you all of my respect!! My closest friend had 2 kids young, managed them on her own, went to school, and had a full time job and now she's comfotable on an income that can support her and her kids without any problems!

Well if you are talking about over and over again, then I see your point.  Lots of people get pregnant once, or even twice because of failed birth control or they were in a relationship that didn't work out and now without their partnet they cant aford the child.  Also, maybe they were able to support their child, but they got laid off from their job.  I have no idea about the person you are mentioning, but there are some reasons I have heard of.  She may have had one of these issues or another or may just have been stupid.
