Why do people get so angry when Americans adopt non-Americans?

I understand that America has orphans and other children without homes...but compared to war-torn countries and nations that look down upon women or those with disabilities/mutations, America is still the country with most opportunity! There are so many advantages to living in America...not only is it safer and healthier, but education is so significant. My parents adopted a little girl from China a few years ago, and I have heard many people asking why we didn't adopt from America. In China, this eight year old girl never saw a day of schooling in her life. If we had not adopted her and she was old enough to leave the orphanage, there is so little opportunity for women to succeed. Children in other countries would do anything to have the opportunities that so many unmotivated American children take advantage of today. It just drives me crazy that people in America can be so ignorant to other countries and their misfortune.

  1. Because they think we should adopt americans first. Personally, I think if you adopt a child and give it a good home, you should be commended for it and not harped at, despite where it's from. And besides, I know that American children that need to be adopted will at least be given food, shelter, medicine, etc. I can't say that a lot of orphans from other countries will get that kind of treatment.

  2. Because we are the babysitters of the world and have too many people.

  3. The people who get angry are ignorant. They are not helpers of everyone. only of their own. seems a little bias to me.
