makes the statement that another or denomination is wrong, then they usually make a statement that they believe the same things you do? I will use catholicism for an example. I am a Baptist and I find catholicism to be a false religion. Yes I admit they do believe in some of the same things in the Bible that i do, Heres where we differ. I believe the Bible and every single thing in it, they add to the Bible with the Apocrypha. I believe the Bible is the complete word of God they don't. The mormons claim to believe the gospel as do I. But they prove themselves to be a false teaching also in my view when they start teaching things that are unbiblical and completely contradict the Bible. So I simply want to know why, if I am doing something that I believe to be true and the only truth, why do I get attacked being called an intollerant bigot who doesnt know how to respect other peoples beliefs. My Bible does not teach me to have any respect of other beliefs, it actually teaches me to rebuke and refute what I deem to be a false belief, seems like everytime I do though I get attacked. I live in the United States where freedom of religion is in our constitution but I really dont feel like I am free to practice my religion at all. All I want to do is witness to others what God has done for me and to spread the gospel that I am commanded by Christ to do. I simply want to practice and share my religion with others, If they do not accept it or do not want to hear it then I do not try to force it on anyone. How is this being intollerant? Is it just Christianity people dont want to hear about. I never here of any other religion being persecuted anywhere near as bad as Christians are. Can somebody explain this?

  1. "My Bible does not teach me to have any respect of other beliefs, it actually teaches me to rebuke and refute what I deem to be a false belief"  - what right do you have to judge? Did God came and told you what is false and what is not? I am catholic and I do know I am right and you are false - where is the true? For what I know there is one God and we have to find our paths to Him and everybody has different path.

  2. I see very little wrong with what you are saying, as long as you mean the words: "If they do not accept it or do not want to hear it then I do not try to force it on anyone."  AND as long as you are willing to listen to the other person's reasons for why they believe as they do. I mean fair is fair.

  3. What do you not understand about Catholics being the first Christian religion and all other denominations being watered down from them?

Sadly your question illustrates how the church has been split into so many denominations, sects and cults setting Christian against Christian and Christians against all non believers.

Hardly the work of god - far more likely to be the antichrist and the devil destroying Christianity from the inside!!

  4. You said, "My Bible does not teach me to have any respect of other beliefs..."

That's pretty much why people get offended.

Apparently you have expanded the definition of Christian from someone who believes in and follows the teachings of Christ to someone who also believes in a literal interpretation of the Bible and witnesses to others (among other things that the Baptist faith includes of which I am unaware).

  5. the Bible says "Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy"

so im GUESSING you believe THAT,, cuz you said " i beieve th Bible and EVERYTHING in it."

so you believe it and STILL CHOOSE to go to church on sunday???

    ah.. im confussed....

    lol. not really though..

  6. "I never here of any other religion being persecuted anywhere near as bad as Christians are"

    Is this a joke?

Fine, I'm not judging you, but everything you believe is wrong. The bible is not the truth, and jesus christ was not the son of god. I'm not trying to force you to not believe in god, I just want to let you know that he's not real.

  7. QUESTION:

Are you as willing to have an open dialog as you are about telling others about your beliefs?

    If so, that's great!

  8. I beleive what I want.

    They believe want they want.

    Are we done?

  9. "So I simply want to know why, if I am doing something that I believe to be true and the only truth, why do I get attacked being called an intollerant bigot who doesnt know how to respect other peoples beliefs."

Because everyone else has the same right to voice their opinions as you do to voice yours.  Duh.

  10. christians persecuted? thats funny i dont think they even know what persecution is ask a jew or a muslim if you really want to know and dont call other religions false thats a bad bad naughty christian

  11. Hehehe...

"And God said 'Let there be light'.... Is there anyway this could be a euphemism for the Big Bang?"

    "No. God just went *click*"

Just so you know, the term "christianity" means any religion that believes that Jesus was the son of god, and mankinds savior. Which means the catholics, the baptistes, the seventh day adventists, you name it.

You see, there are reasons that christianity is "persecuted" ("questioned", and "inspected" would probably be more apt). The fact that so many christians think that they have a right to force their religion on others worse than all other religions combined is a prime reason. Another reason could be that, not only do you force it on us, but you do so without questioning it yourself. Seriously, it is impossible for the bible to be a literal accounting. So many flaws, and errors. If it is not literal, then it must be metaphorical. If it's metaphorical, then all christian religions are built off of a fable with meaning. And you expect us, the non-believers, to just fall in step with you, and get mad when we say "but... that doesn't make any sense!"

You think christianity is  persecuted? Man, christianity controls the world. The pope is the most powerful man on the planet (and he IS christian; remember the earlier definition), who has the deepest pockets. Your god is on our money, in our schools, in our every day expressions ("Oh my god!" "Good god!" "Dear lord!", etc), on our TV's and radios, everywhere we look.

    And you think you're persecuted?

I don't mind people talking god to me, just so long as they have proof to back up their claim... Which means I always mind.

If you're worried about the insults that get fired at you by non-believers, what do you expect? You tell him he deserves to burn in agony for the rest of eternity, never dying,  just screaming in despair forever and ever, amen, and you expect him to feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

    Christianity persecuted. That's inane.

    Atheistically yours,

    JM Gendron.

  12. Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

  13. Matt 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Jesus says this will happen. This happened to the apostles. If you are following Jesus then follow Him. Don't worry what others say or do to you. (And I know that's easier said then done) But keep your eye on Jesus follow Him. He will lead you! All believers of God's word will go through this but we just have to look to Jesus for strength. We have to surrender our hearts to Jesus and allow his mind to be in us. Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which is also in Christ Jesus

    Jesus will give you peace.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

  14. I didn't read the whole thing, too long, but you wouldn't like it if someone told you your religion was wrong.

Treat others with the same respect.

  15. I keep thinking  in the past there was not as much if any confusion on who was really following the God.   Noah  one Ark noone else was building one,   Christ and his diciples no one else was claiming to be the christ.  even earlier the God CHOSE who HE wanted to be his people and their was no doubt, although it was less democratic evangelizing and a whole alota theocatic bloodshed, that persuaded back then.

Sorry if I got off point.

  16. "I never here of any other religion being persecuted anywhere near as bad as Christians are."

    Persecuted?

    The Jews were/are persecuted.

    g**s are persecuted.

Xians are NOT persecuted - you have a church on every corner and every church is exempt property taxes as are the sects owning them.

Don't try to claim victim status when you have all the power ; you sound foolish.

  17. Yea, christians bashing christians!~

You people yell all the time that all you have to do is accept JC as your savior.  They do but they still aren't the "right" kind of christians?

    Yea, hypocrisy at it's finest.

    EDIT:

You aren't free to practice your religion?  Where?  Are you not allowed to go to church, read your bible on the street, have displays on your lawn?

Please tell me how you are being stopped practicing your religion?

And persecution?  Where?  Because people don't say Merry Chtristmas?  What?  Tell us how you are being persecuted?

And by attacking other christians, you are the one doing the persecuting here..right?

  18. nope

  19. How can you claim that anothers faith contradicts the Bible when the Bible itself is full of contradictions (http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra... Do you follow every rule laid out in the old testament - "I believe the Bible is the complete word of God they don't" - If not then by your very words you yourself are contradicting the Bible

"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

    Matthew 7:1-5

  20. Let me get this straight.  You go on a rant against every other religion you could fit in the space allotted by Y!A, yet you claim Christians are "persecuted"?

You can practice your religion all you want.  You are free to go to church and pray until you fall over from exhaustion.  Preaching intolerance toward others and shoving your religion down their throats is *not* covered under "religious freedom", and being denied the ability to do those things is *not* "persecution".
