Why do people get the exterior of their house painted with charcoal even when its black?

i mean even its well-known that black absorbs heat, then too people in order to get rid off the scorching heat, get it painted by charcoal?

  1. I've never heard of this - where does this take place?

    Dark matt colours also radiate heat fastest as well as absorb heat fastest (infrared), but a house would need to be pretty hot to radiate more than it receives most of the time.

    Usually colours of the outside of houses are related to insulative properties of the materials, e.g. dark tiling of the houses in Brittany.
