  1. what are you? Stupid?

  2. various reasons, tax write-offs, genuine caring, the whole godliness thing... i do it 'cos i have my basic needs met, and believe every human being should too, and it's my small way to help.

  3. maybe we were born to do so!

  4. 1. Someone has been helped by the agency and wants to give back.

    2. Tax deduction.

    3. Too busy to spend time volunteering for an agency so donate money instead.

    4. God tells them to (one of my relatives gets sudden inspirations to donate to a charity for this reason)

  5. Since the greatest givers (by percentage of income) are those who're just above needing charity themselves, it's probably

    1. gratitude for help they've received

    2. real understanding of the plight of those who receive it

    3. a kind of survivor guilt

  6. We thoroughly researched a charity before we committed to not only working to raise money and awareness, but also sponsoring two children.  We saw a very urgent need among children in Africa who have NO resources and NO WHERE to go to receive help unless someone steps in.  We wanted to make sure that we found an organization that did what they said they were doing.  We donate because we want the lives of these children to be easier.  Maybe it won't change the course of their lives, but my girl, who is five, no longer has to make several trips to bring the water to her family, because they have a pump in her village now.  A small thing, but she can spend more time in school, or playing.  Basically, we find it unacceptable that children are dying and being orphaned in such huge numbers (6,000 daily) and we wanted to see what we could do.   I wear an African charm on a necklace and every couple of days someone asks me why, and I can tell them about World Vision and what they do and tell them about the children being helped.

  7. 1.to show off or

2.to help the poor and unfortunate or

    3. to get tax exempted
