  1. to get away from their wives / girlfriends

  2. Open yourself to new experiences.  Golf is a very mental game and is very challenging.  It forces me to concentrate and to relax, otherwise it shows in my game.  Golf has nothing to do with another player unless you play competitively in a club and on teams, but it's challenging yourself to do better.  Sure, the 19th hold is fun, but it's working up to that which is the most fulfilling.

The other thing good about golf is that it is a sport virtually anyone can play, young and old.  And I have seen very young and very old.

  3. That is your first mistake.  Get out there and play.  You will struggle at first, but once you hit a pure shot and you get that feeling that cannot be put into words, you're hooked.  It's addicting.  Then as you get better, you'll do well at the range and then wonder why you can't hit the ball on the course like you do at the range.  Then you'll have a day that everything that you work on at the range works on the course.  Then winter comes and you'l go through withdrawal symptoms because you can't play.  I love golf, but playing in 20 degree weather isn't cute.  The problem with watching professionals is they have been playing for years upon years.  Tiger Woods was a scratch golfer at 5 years old.  They have instructors who routinely work with them.  I can't afford that, so I read books and magazines and learn by trial and error.  I've never had a lesson.  I may take a lesson one day.  Maybe.  Besides, playing golf beats working anyday.

  4. why do people ask stupid questions in the golf section if you are not interested in golf dont ask a question related to it .its fine that you dont like it and think its boring im cool with that but ask questions in the section of the sport you like

  5. Its just a great game that you can play forever yet can never be good enough at. Its frustrating at times but when you play well and possibly win tournaments, its the greatest feeling in the world.

  6. hey if u think golf your an idiot its a fun sport

  7. i heard its good for frustration.

  8. It's like an urge. I wake in the morning if it's not raining, I'll grab my bag and head to the course. d**n the house chores.

  9. for some...passion

  10. because all other four letter words were used up

  11. it stimulates the brain. if you dont believe me try to develop a good golf swing

  12. It actually isn't a boring sport at all if you're the one on the course. When you understand and play the game, even watching it on tv is very exciting because you see the pros go through the same practices and shots as you strive for. It's a quiet and sometimes solemn sport. So much of golf is mental, you need a clear mind to hit the shots you want and roll the best putts possible. Yes, the fans cheer in big tournaments but if you're playing by yourself or practicing, something like making a 10 ft putt makes you want to let out a whoop, it's such a difficult sport that every little accomplishment is so important. Maybe if you'd take up golf, you would understand the frustration and the joys of the game rather than critiquing it.

  13. Well, if you've ever read Catch-22, you know that the more exciting and interesting things are, the faster time passes and the more boring and dull things are, the slower time passes.  This was proved by Albert Einstein in his famous theory of relativity.  People like golf because when they play it for an afternoon, it feels like they've been alive for about 15 billion years.

  14. Its just fun, and a good way to socialize.

  15. people golf because they want to.

It's one of the hardest sports that any human being will play

mental and physical strain that goes in to your body is tougher than you think

  16. Hi Barbara, do you have a hobby or something that you take pride in when you do it well? A well struck shot that ends up where you want it is equivalent to whatever makes you happy. That's why, pure and simple. We can have hopefully an afternoon of a few great moments. Yeah, it looks boring, but try playing it, golf will change your mind.
