  1. Congratulations. I wish I liked the durian but I have had it on several occasions and just think it tastes like grassy oniony mush.  I even had a smoothie recently and could only take one sip.

  2. i don't think it stinks THAT bad, but its still pretty gross. i'm filipino and my family eats it so im used to how it smells.

its fun throwing it at people though!

  3. I don't hate, but I do not eat.  I will gain more extra weight from eating durian.

  4. People hate it because it smells like rotten fish, 1000 year old eggs, and gym sock.

And it tastes like...well...rotten fish, 1000 year old eggs, and gym sock.

  5. It smells like armpit. that's what a cook said after he tasted it. but he said u'd go for more if u ever tasted the fruit. that's why the fruit is in demand. try it and not fall for other peoples words. I wish i could get more.

  6. I think there are biological differences between South East Asians and Westerners which make durian smells different to the two groups.

P/S: We are very lucky to be able to enjoy the taste of this exotic fruit with tastes like nothing else on Earth.

By the way the best durians come from Malaysia. They research durians and mix DNA of different species to produce the ultimate durians. D24 is the favourite.

  7. i personally never tried it before even though my family buys it all the time i think the only reason is the odor i hate the smell it smells really bad and stinks up the fridge its really pointy -_- and i tried durian pudding before that was not bad there was no odor to it at all and it was very tasty

  8. i can't get past the smell to try it. do you hold your breath when you eat it? XD

  9. Why do people hate Durian?

Smells like rotten eggs and taste like rotting onions.

  10. Durian!! My life I love Durian!!

  11. i don't hate it at all.  i'm not a lover of it either.

nor does the smell bother me overly much, though most hotels i've stayed in in SEA don't allow you to bring it in.

the one thing for me is that it tastes like onion custard.  i'll eat it when i'm the guest of honour and someone puts it on my plate, but other than that i don't see the need to take something that others prefer.

  12. I've been to Malaysia and tried some. It smells so bad, I can't taste anything but the smell.

Yet my family insists on eating it. :[

If I'm in Malaysia there are much better foods to eat. Mango, Roti Canai, Nasi Lemak... Watermelon juice to drink! Mmmm... I miss Malaysian food.

  13. personally i like it too, but for some people the smell of durian is just too overwhelming and make you dizzy. the smell is also easily spread and stuck quite long on your hands and room.

some don't bother with the smell but can't handle eating it too much because durian contain some alcohol and alcohol-like substance that make us drunk.

don't eat durian too much either because it also contain small traces of cyanide substance.

  14. I've never had Durian, but I have a tendency to not eat things that smell like something rotten. Personal preference. I think that the aroma of a food is an important part of the experience.

  15. never even heard of it until now but I cant even imagine a fruit that smells so badly and tastes good, that's funny

  16. The atrocious stench is what repels us away from durians.

The one I tried in Bangkok sucked. They say it "smells like h**l, tastes like heaven", but IMO i think it "smells like h**l and tastes like h**l"
