  1. A lot of people don't use Pandora for what it's intended. It's not a free music player, it's a music generator, really. It takes your music preferences and finds you songs you might like. It isn't an on-call free music station, so they get upset and decide Pandora is awful.

The fact is, Pandora does exactly what it intended to do. It still plays songs you know and love, and over time you can hone in your preferences to make it learn what you really love. I find that I have one station that plays 90% of the songs I really enjoy (thumbs-up) and then 10% new songs. Sometimes I like those too, and so I keep them.

It's really important for people to provide input to Pandora. So if they're just sitting there and not saying Like or Dislike, then the station will offer music that might be way too different and you'll be upset. It can take months to develop a really solid radio station on Pandora, especially if you only listen to it sometimes.

Then people say "Oh you only get to skip 5 songs an hour." Well, you should be thumbs-downing, not skipping, and then if you reach your limit... switch stations! You can have a lot of stations and it doesn't have to be different genres. If you love classic rock, you can have 10 classic rock stations. Keep switching if it bugs you, you know?

Also, a lot of people don't know about the shared radio stations. You can find stations that Pandora has made itself, or ones your friends have made, and then you can edit a copy of them yourself. It's very flexible!

I enjoy Pandora because of the random factor of the songs. I like to find new artists and not just mindlessly listen to the same couple songs over and over. In the end, people hate Pandora because they don't understand that it's not a free library of their own music, it's a music finder/sharing system.

  2. I like pandora, unfortunately since they updated the internet at work, it won't play for me anymore.

  3. because they never choose the artist/song that you ask for. i'd rather use imeem.

  4. it slows down my computer and adds adware and way too many tracking cookies.

  5. because you dont get the exact song you are looking for and you cant skip that many songs in a single hour... only like 5 scince last time i was there.
